First time posting although a long time lurker.

We have been TTC for a few months and this morning I think I got a faint positive!

What now? Do I buy a more expensive test to double check as it was just a cheap one? Call my doctors?

They didn't cover this in PSHE - just the do not get pregnant bit!

No need to keep testing, I've never tested more than once in a pregnancy. Give your GP surgery a call to find out what the process is for your trust to access the midwives. When I had my daughter I booked my own appointment with my midwife. I have moved since and now I have to fill in a form at the GP surgery and the midwife called me when she was next at the surgery. Other places you self refer online.
Make sure you are taking folic acid and vitamin d and check out the list of foods on the NHS to be mindful of.
The first trimester is rather underwhelming but there's a chance you'll feel awful as sickness (it can be any time of day!) and fatigue can hit you in the first trimester so watch out for that. If you are struggling you might need to speak to your employer about adjustments. I always have bad pregnancy sickness and have it agreed that I can work from home as much as I need.

Have you missed a period yet? Personally I would test after missing a period to make sure it's not a chemical, then I'd find out how to self refer to the midwife which I'd do around 5/6 weeks (some areas it's an online form, others it's through the GP).

You'll then get a booking in appointment usually around 8-10 weeks.
