Protein in urine 16 weeks

What could this be?

Second baby. Have GDM, diet controlled, otherwise healthy. 32 years old, slightly overweight. Normal blood pressure. No swelling.

My midwife said it was unusual to develop preeclampsia before 24 weeks but still sent off blood and urine samples for analysis.

I'm trying to stay calm and not assume the worst.

Did anyone develop preeclampsia before 20 weeks? How did it go for you?

Alternatively, what else could have caused protein to be in my urine?

It could just be contamination from discharge.
Was your BP OK?
Did your midwife send of the sample incase its a UTI?

Loads of things. I was watched like a hawk after developing preeclampsia in my first pregnancy. My proteins went up and down at every appointment. It's only really when it's ++ and high blood pressure or other symptoms that they really worry. Do you pee a bit first before collecting a sample? CM can add proteins so they advise you to flush a bit first. Being poorly can make a difference too apparently

Ooh I didn't know that. I have actually been ill so hopefully it's that!

I've always just peed in the cup and then poured it into the test tube and never had any issues with my first. I'd also had a shower about an hour before this appointment.

I’m 27 weeks and always had protein in urine each appointment. But BP fine no other symptoms so they not concerned x
