Any sonographers here? 17mm MSD gestational sac no fetal pole?

Hi.

Recently found out that I am pregnant. Doesn't sound promising, apparently I have a 17mm MSD sac with yolk sac and no fetal pole.

I was looking at the picture and saw something lurking there and I do wonder whether it might be a start of a fetal pole. Still so nauseous!

Can anyone help

How far along are you xx

WildViper · 19/11/2024 23:26

gestational sac with a mean sac diameter (MSD) of 17 mm is likely to be around 8 weeks into a pregnancy , therefore most likey blighted ovum. Did they tell you they'd have you back for repeat scan 7-10 days

Couldn't be 8 weeks, max around 6 weeks and that is what was on the report too. Yes, having a rescan on Saturday but was wondering whether anyone saw anything there. She spent about 30 seconds looking and said she wasn't concerned. She also said it cannot be blighted ovum with yolk sac. But I agree, it doesn't look good.
Was hoping a sonographer could share their thoughts.

My scan at 6 weeks looked like that and I also had a shed tone of bleeding, went back 10 days later to a dancing around little bean. Don't count yourself out just yet

Sorry ment 6 .Anembryonic Pregnancy. A single sonographic image demonstrating a gestational sac with a yolk sac. No fetal pole is seen. This is representative of a blighted ovum. Hopefully its just a case of too early to see and little one says hello on Saturday 🤞 puts everything at ease I just worry as by 6 I've seen heartbeats with each I wish you the best of luck

I have never an early scan like that but yes, I do worry that this doesn't look good. I am also 41 so that is another factor to consider.

Encouraging, thanks. Do you remember what your gestational MSD was by any chance?

These were my early ultrasounds. Started bleeding the day before the first one so panicked and booked an early scan first one was 28/01/2022

second was 07/02/2022 this one it says I was 6weeks and 6 days.

and third was 27/02/2022

i found out I was pregnant on the 20th of jan of that year, I must have ovulated late because my dates were all over the place.

but my lovely Orla turned two in September and she's perfectly healthy 🩷

Been for a scan today. Sac has grown a bit and there is a fetal pole measuring around 3.5 mm, no heartbeat. Sac measures around 6+6 which is about right.

However, reading literature, there should be a heartbeat after >11 days when yolk sac was seen.

I think its lost but I just want to know for sure!
