Hi all,
I had my prenatal blood work done. Everything came back ok no worries..when I read the results under HIV it said negative and in brackets it said that early infection could come back negative. Is this routine that they put that in brackets or is suggesting that zi may have HIV?!!! MAJOR overthinker here.

It's standard. It's because it can take 3 months to seroconvert and develop measurable antibodies. Anyone coming for tests thinking they are at risk of HIV is advised to have them repeated after 3 months.

No it's just a generic comment that comes up against blood results for the health care professional that has requested it to interpret the results in a context. If this was routine screening for HIV during pregnancy then your result will be negative. As PP said, if someone had been exposed to HIV or was concerned after unprotected sex then they would have a repeat test in 3 months to check.
