17 weeks pregnant and working late

I am almost 17 weeks pregnant. I work in a shop and 2 of my shifts are late shifts which are till 11pm. It’s a really physical job and I’m on my feet constantly all night. I’m noticing a pattern that when I do these shifts the next day I have a migraine, exhausted and being sick. I am up early every day with my children getting them ready for school etc too so I feel like I am not getting enough sleep too which is affecting me.

if I asked my manager to swap to days because the nights are causing these issues for me is this something he would have to do because I am pregnant? Or can he refuse it.
I am struggling so much 😒

Hey I know your struggle I was in the same boat with my first baby ! To my understanding he doesn’t have to swap your shifts if he doesn’t want to but he would have to swap them if you provide him with a medical cert stating that you can’t work those hours anymore …I’m pretty sure he has honor it then 🩷 best of luck x

Seconding get a letter from gp. I used to work as a nurse before so worked nights and got a letter from gp at some stage during the pregnancy to stop doing the nights so they put me on days only. Any colleague I knew who was pregnant did the same thing.

I agree get a doctors note & have it put in your risk assessment that you won’t work lates at all or reduced frequency e.g. 2x per month instead of 2x per week and for it to be reviewed later on in your pregnancy (and changed to 0)

Thanks everyone 👍🏻 this is my 3rd pregnancy and I thought I would sail through it like my previous 2 but nope 😂 it’s one thing after another! Trying not to wish this precious time away but would love if my due date was around the corner! X
