False Positive Pregnancy Test?

Hello!
Me and my partner aren’t trying for a baby and I take the contraceptive pill religiously, however I tend to take pregnancy tests every so often just to be on the safe side and today I took a Sainsburys pregnancy test and with (not my first wee of the day) it came up as a potential positive (see picture), I then picked up a clear blue digital test which came up “not pregnant”… can someone please advise?

Try again in the morning , did the positive come up within the timeframe ? False positives are very very rare if the test was taken correctly

Agree with @RevelryMum . There's a greater risk of a false negative than a false positive. If you took thatto your GP, they wouldn't rerun the test, but presume ti's correct.

Try again first thing tomorrow.

Thank you for your response. It came up pretty quickly, I didn’t really time it.

Thank you! So you reckon the clear blue could be incorrect?

For now assume it's positive and test again first thing in the morning the more you pee as the day goes on the less potent it will be so you could get a negative .

Update us in the morning x

NotOneOfTheInCrowd · 14/11/2024 15:28

If you’ still feel the need to take pregnancy tests even though you’re on the pill I’d suggest that you double up on contraception to be sure.

False pregnancy tests can happen, but unfortunately this is usually for sinister reasons, so I would definitely test again in the morning, but if you’re sure you can’t be pregnant I would also go and see your GP who will be able to book an ultrasound to check.

I only test for peace of mind and haven’t ever had a positive. I’ll test again tomorrow and go from there! Thank you for your advice 😊

Nothing wrong in saying you’d love to be pregnant OP and trying!

NormaNormalPants · 15/11/2024 07:13

I think the digital tests are only meant to be reliable with your first morning urine (at least that’s what the information with the one I last took said). I’d try again this morning and go from there.

RevelryMum · 15/11/2024 12:36

Any update OP ?

Mekumeku · 15/11/2024 12:49

Repeat the test with another traditional, non-digital test. You will know for sure if several of those come back positive.

Hello! I took another test this morning, a clear blue (non digital one), it came up as negative however after about 10 mins I saw a very faint second (potential positive) line going down the middle but I thought it could possibly be a evap line 🤔

Ok, good to know! Maybe I shall try this. Thank you 🙏

If the line doesn't appear within the time frame then it's not reliable x
