So I've been advised that I should be having 300 calories or so extra in pregnancy. The only question I have which my midwife could not answer for some reason is are those still extra calories for the body to or are you advised to eat abit extra because your body burns it off whilst being pregnant and you're making up for it
Ive lost 50 kilos after baby 1 and I'm eating anything I want throughout the day. By that I mean not focused on losing weight anymore or small portions. I'm going to the gym every day which is working for me in terms of how I look everywhere else whilst my stomach grows.. I refuse to look at the scales as I know that will mess with my head mentally. Some people have just said don't worry later about weight gain it's fine if you get fat.. but only I know how hard it is was to lose it. Would appreciate any advice. Thankyou

It’s to do with your body working extra hard when pregnant & making sure baby is getting all of the nutrients they need. During my pregnancy last year my midwife gave out leaflets and the general guidance in those was that most people don’t need any extra calories during pregnancy until the final trimester and even then it’s only an extra 200-300 a day, and also said what those calories are made up of matters, so 200 calories of chocolate isn’t any benefit really whereas 200 calories of protein/calcium/healthy fats would be, but I would honestly try not to worry too much about it. Congratulations x
