Probably best to just wait for the final report from the lab so as not to take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. A few days won't make any difference unless you're already very unwell? (As in fever, severe pain, blood in urine). Lots of things can show on a dipstick that don't end up being infection. So the lab test is the only way to know for sure.
I've suffered with health anxiety before so I know how overwhelming it can be.. But would you consider getting some help to manage it? It would be a shame to not be able to enjoy your pregnancy if this kind of anxiety takes over. I hope you get all the support you need

Thank you so much and it’s all regarding loosing my baby extreme I know but I honestly worry and overthink so so much and to be honest I haven’t had much symptoms of the uti until they did a dipstick test so I’m assuming that it’s only been the last few day it’s creeping up but if I can wait it’s okay just want too know it isn’t going too spread too her my mums telling me all sorts

No it doesn't sound like you have symptoms and you're doing the right thing by waiting on the lab report. Sometimes white blood cells show up in a urine dipstick which is suggestive of infection.. But often they can come from your vaginal discharge and are nothing to do with infection. Just one example but yeah it may end up being nothing. And if it is a UTI you'll be treated and over it in no time😊 In the meantime if you got any of the extreme symptoms like I mentioned before then contact triage. It's so hard I know how you feel. I spent my pregnancy thinking the worst. Speaking to the mental health support team can really help x

As PP said, the urine sample can be contaminated by something like discharge, ect, so unless having symptoms it is best not to treat. Of course, if there are any symptoms, then contact your assessment unit.

Many UTIs are resistant to certain antibiotics so the broad spectrum ones that we give may not treat it and there different antibiotics for UTIs that aren't to be used in certain trimesters so can make it a bit tricky.

Any symptoms or concerns about movements go in to be assessed though!

I'm currently 25 weeks, I went to the gp they dipped my urine gave me antibiotics and send t it for testing and told me to drink a lot of water and isotonic drinks.

How much do you drink of plain water during the day OP?

PMAmostofthetime · 13/11/2024 23:16

The antibiotics are giving me not nice side effects so I'd honestly avoid them if you don't need them.

If you haven't got symptoms it's best to wait, the dr's wouldn't make you if it wasn't safe.

Drink lots of water & cranberry juice, I would normally recommend D Mannose, but I don't know if it would be safe being pregnant. Other than that, go to a pharmacy & see what they recommend. Take paracetamol if you are in pain & if you get further symptoms like temperature, kidney pain, or blood in your urine, contact your doctor.
