Probably a daft question! 2nd pregnancy here (first time around I was Preg Jan to oct so not over Xmas) but I’m very partial to an M&S festive sandwich over Xmas time…. I assume this is still ok eat? I know people can be funny about pre made sandwiches but I’ve been eating other kinds occasionally but I really do like the festive ones! I know they can be pretty meat heavy but I assume they are fine yes?

Absolutely fine.

batterychicken · 13/11/2024 20:03

Why wouldn't they be fine?

Hellisemptyallthdevilsarehere · 13/11/2024 20:03

What do you think they might contain that's problematic?

teatoast8 · 13/11/2024 20:04

Of course it's fine

ecossegirl91 · 13/11/2024 20:05

I don’t know actually 😂😂 I know some people avoid pre made sandwiches or perhaps go for meat free ones… but I guess that’s preference rather than actual guidance.

I shall eat them happily!

Well it depends what’s in it? If Brie then obviously you should avoid 😅

I get your worry though, sometimes packaged sandwiches come with risk of listeria but I think the risk is low..

No brie (actually not a fan of it at all!) - just the bog standard turkey feast with stuffing cranberry and I think there’s maybe bacon….

Now you’re making me hungry

There is very little I consciously avoid in pregnancy - pate, deli meat and sushi are the only things I can think of - steak has to be well done and i make sure brie and blue cheese are heated first.

I only get my info from the NHS website and completely ignore the rest..... otherwise I promise it will drive you crazy.

Enjoy your M&S sandwich

VanillaPlanifolia · 13/11/2024 20:12

Up to you really

I still eat deli meat. Risk is low and still have bloody steak. As long as its piping hot its fine.

To be fair, I don't eat pate, deli meats or bloody steaks anyway even when I'm not pregnant.
Sushi I do like though so that's a miss and I'll find anyway i can to still get my cheese fix

You enjoy it. I'm waiting the 9 months but can't wait to indulge again

freddyfluffball · 13/11/2024 20:52

You can eat sushi. The amount of hype around this stuff is mad.

freddyfluffball · 13/11/2024 20:56

Sushi is only an issue due to parasites which are killed when it's frozen. And under EU rules that has to happen with sushi. So it's fine. You may be looking at American guidance which is different.

Meal deal sandwiches were weirdly a craving in my first trimester! You enjoy them and eat whatever you and your baby crave🤗Im second trimester now and I'm ravenous! Congratulations x
