Im currently 31 weeks pregnant with an 11 month old it’s gone by so quickly but since reaching 30 weeks the aches and pains have caught up with me !! Anyway on the 9th of this month I was sitting on the floor with my baby who is currently trying to walk/ sofa surf and she is doing great !!! . I had my back against the couch and my daughter was standing right beside me, she lost her footing and fell on her bottom but as she was falling she had her elbow sticking out and it hit into the side of my stomach and dragged all the way down (tbh I was more worried about my daughter being ok first than her hitting into me at the time so I wasn’t really paying much attention to how hard she hit me or where exactly) and I think it dug in a little deeper at the end of my stomach as I had pains in that area that night and the next day. I rang my maternity unit and they played it down at the start I was wondering did I need the anti d since it did hurt for a few seconds when it happened but they said no it didn’t sound like i needed it they told me to ring back if I experience any cramping or any other alarming symptoms, 3am that morning I was up with my baby and I started noticing some pains so I rang back and they said just take some paracetamol, I was a little upset over it as I was worried about if I needed the anti d but again they said I was fine and that I wasn’t in any pain even though I rang them explaining I was in pain ? I rang the next day for a second opinion and they said the same as the day before … what I’m worried about is that it’s now 4 days later and I still have pains in that area (kind of like pulling pains). I suppose I just need some reassurance as I’ve read online that having a bump to the stomach could cause the fetus to have cerebral palsy espically if the baby experiences head trauma in the womb ??!! Does anyone have any story’s they would like to share to put my mind at ease ? Its been on my mind for the past few days now and I can’t shake the feeling. Has anyone else been pregnant with a baby/toddler that likes to use them as a human trampoline and there baby turned out ok ?? I’ve gotten a few kicks to the tummy when changing her nappy but they were never as hard as this. TIA xx

Hi,

I’m so sorry that your maternity unit have been so unhelpful!

I had a similar situation at 19 weeks when my five year old son ran and jumped towards me for a cuddle and kicked my bump. I had a few pains that night but woke up the next morning and had some light spotting so my maternity unit wanted me to come in for assessment. They checked baby’s heartbeat and everything was okay but they did say that if I had been a little bit later on in my pregnancy they would have done a blood test to make sure my blood hadn’t mixed with baby’s?

She also said that they were being cautious and that baby is very well protected in there so the force of a child would be very unlikely to cause any harm.

If you feel something is wrong though you should definitely keep pushing them, better to be safe than sorry!

Hope everything goes well for you!

Honestly felt so lost didn’t know how to approach going in again !! I felt like I wasn’t being listened to whatso ever I feel like I lost so much trust !! Forgot to mention they didn’t even offer me to come in until the next day and they only offered me because I was feeling a little anxious 😕
yeah they should of offered me the anti-d injection as you don’t know how hard of an impact can cause bleeding I’m just heart broken 💔 more so for the fact that my baby could of been injured and google isn’t the best place to be going looking for answers they just fill your head with horror story’s !!

thanks so much for your reply I hope your pregnancy is going well x

Have you had the anti-d injection now? I haven’t experienced it but my friend had to have them whenever she had bumps due to her blood being rh negative and baby’s being positive. If it ever happens again ask for the injection and they should be helping you.

I had it two weeks before this happened they never offered me the injection this time and I rang and asked 3 times !! Me and my husband have said that this may be our last baby but we are still youngish (26) so you never know we might change our mind but if the blood mixed and my body created antibodies it will be hard for us and the baby could be born with health complications 💔

Hopefully it doesn’t happen. I don’t know too much about the anti-d injection is there a chance the one a fortnight ago still covers you? Or is there a limit on how frequent you can have it? If the answer to both of those is no then the hospital should be helping you, or explaining why you can’t have it.
