Is that normal? What did other people gain during pregnancy

I was probably about the same at 26 weeks, most weight gain happens in 3rd trimester.

I lost a stone and a half, no sickness. Possible m'y thyroïde started working properly but sadly that didn't last.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 11/11/2024 14:38

Completely normal. Lots of women lose weight In the first trimester from severe sickness/ nausea.

Unless you're underweight I wouldn't worry.

Completely normal, most weight goes on in the 3rd trimester.
I lost weight at the start with my 2nd because of morning sickness, then put weight back on so I only gained a stone the whole pregnancy

I'm 20 weeks, I've lost 10lb so far. I was overweight though. I'm think I'm levelling off now and will begin to gain soon.

BlubBlubImAFish · 11/11/2024 15:49

28 weeks and lost 2stone 10lbs. HG until 26 weeks and PCOS under control due to pregnancy hormones. My first hospital admission with the HG was at 25 weeks when i got massively dehydrated very quickly, then the next week it just vanished. So weird. Up until that point I'd been managing fine at home. With my son I lost 3 and a half stone by the time he was born and didnt have HG that time. No one is in the least bit concerned, as long as your ketone readings are coming back below a 3+, you're not anemic and you're hydrated then you're fine.

I hav PCOS. I didn't gain any weight whatsoever, so basically LOST weight, for the first 30 weeks or so of both pregnancies. I assume becuase my insulin resistance disappeared while I was pregnant because i didn't have PCOS. I have a few friends who joked that they didn't gain so much or even los tweight because they weren't drinking while pregnant.

If you are not underweight, I wouldn't be concerned.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 11/11/2024 16:28

I didn't put on a lot of weight. No booze, eating very healthily and I read somewhere that a diet high in sugar was not good for the baby and led to a fatter baby/harder delivery so overall I probably was eating much more sensibly than usual.

Shoobidowhop · 11/11/2024 17:02

6 months before I started to put any on even though there was no sickness. It then increased steadily but after birth I was lighter than pre baby, there are all kinds of normal!

MrsSunshine2b · 11/11/2024 17:11

Were you overweight before getting pregnant?

The biggest weight gain happens in the 3rd trimester in my experience. I lost weight in the first trimester and only gained a very small amount in the 2nd and then I gained A LOT, about 3st in total, 1.5st of which was the baby and amniotic fluid and another 1.5st which I still can't lose 4 years later!

Esdale · 11/11/2024 17:20

I'm 24 weeks and have gained 1.6kg, or 3.5lbs, so far. I was 64kg to start with.

The NHS website says:
"Weight gain in pregnancy varies greatly. Most pregnant women gain between 10kg and 12.5kg (22lb to 28lb), putting on most of the weight after week 20."

sel2223 · 12/11/2024 09:51

I'm 20+5 and currently the same weight I was at my booking in appointment.

I put it down mainly to sickness and food aversions but also I think I've been subconciously making healthier choices, obviously cut out alcohol, doing a bit more gentle exercise etc
I haven't been actively trying not to gain weight but I think, while I can explain it, I'm not worried. (I'm also BMI 30 so the doctor isn't worried either)

Superscientist · 12/11/2024 16:20

I only gained a stone in total but lost half a stone in the first trimester and started losing weight again in the third trimester due to sickness.
I was back at my prepregnancy weight in 10 days and by the time I stopped breastfeeding I was very underweight. My daughter had food allergies and I had severe depression which meant a very limited diet and a limited ability to eat. I think I would have coped much better if I had been able to gain a little more weight in pregnancy. I'm going to try to learn from this now I'm hopefully pregnant with number 2.

Daschund · 12/11/2024 16:25

I had Hg the entire pregnancies and lost around 2 stone with each of my three DC. I was under 9 stone to begin with. A consultant described babies as parasites. They weighed between 7lb9oz and largest 8lb7oz.
