Reduced movements at 21 weeks?

Hello! So I started to feel little movements at just before 20 weeks, then I feel like at the 20 week mark I was feeling lots of jiggling around in there! Baby tends to be very active before bed and sometimes on a morning when I have breakfast. I've noticed over the last day or so, the movements have slowed right down. I might get a tiny little nudge once or twice a day but nothing compared to what I was feeling. I know our baby is super active cause ultrasounds are hilarious - he won't sit still.

Do you think I should be concerned? My only thought is that it's still considered early, and I do have an anterior placenta which I was told may affect movements but at the same time, I was feeling very strong movements over the last week. I just don't want to waste midwives time.

I am in for a scan on Tuesday next week as they couldn't complete the anomaly scan due to baby being a tinker. Any experience for this first time mama would be really appreciated x

Phone the number on your mat notes and go and see your midwife. They won't mind. The NHS website stresses the importance of seeing some one immediately, even if it's the middle of the night. It's probably nothing to worry about and baby will be waving at you on the ultrasound but better safe than sorry. Good luck!

I keep having the same thing happen and they told me not to worry about it at this stage. I'm 22 weeks and this is day two of not really feeling any movement after quite an active week. It's so stressful isn't it!!

This happened to me in a previous pregnancy. I was still seen even though it was early. It's always worth just getting checked out x

It's so confusing for sure! I called the MAU and they had me in within an hour to check which was lovely. Baby is fine and active as ever tonight after 2 very, very quiet days! 😂 they said it's definitely always worth checking too so I'm glad we went

I think you did the right thing going to check but at only a week after starting to feel first movements, I wouldn't have said you had anything to be concerned about at all.

I'm 20+4 with my second and only just getting my first sporadic movements now, they are still pretty tiny with lots of room in there to change positions and tuck themselves away into little nooks and crannies so their 'pattern' could change several times in the coming weeks.

Once you hit the 3rd trimester, they have a lot less room to move around and changes should happen less so that's when to really start monitoring for any significant changes
