Exhaustion

This is my second pregnancy, I am much older now and this little miracle has come as a massive surprise after TTC for 11 years and actually giving up 4 years ago.

Everything about this pregnancy is different to my first, but I don’t remember being so “physically exhausted” and drained as I am currently. I am 11 weeks and 4 days and totally zapped. Is this more my age? Or is this normal? I’ve been extremely nauseous this time round - almost constant throughout the day. I only threw up for the first time yesterday.

Any words of reassurance would be helpful. I’m a Pe teacher so relatively fit and healthy which is why this exhaustion is blind siding me.

TIA.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Not sure how old you are OP but I'm pregnant now with my second and it's absolute night and day from my first pregnancy 5 years ago. Every single thing about it has been different so far (I'm 20 weeks).

I'm 42 next month and I'm finding the extreme fatigue completely debilitating, it's been horrendous. No idea if normal or age related!

Thank you, I’m 41. Congratulations to you too.
It makes you wonder if it is age-related at time. I might be feeling it more so this weekend too as I’ve had my flu/covid jabs too but I honestly didn’t sleep well at all last night, up and down constantly. I just hope it eventually subsides, I can’t function on low energy, my job doesn’t allow, my home life is busy but not unnecessarily busy - I feel like I’m resting as much as possible with minimal gains. I’m asleep most evenings from 9pm as I cannot keep my eyes open and I’m hardly getting anything done.

Thank you for making me feel like I’m not alone. Xx

I'm 34 and 20 weeks, the exhaustion has totally floored me too, combined with insomnia!

I am wide awake during the night, okay between 9am-1pm then exhausted. I've experimenting with having a nap in the afternoon Vs not having one to see if it helps, and it really doesn't.
