Postive tests after miscarriage

So. I miscarried 5 weeks ago and I have still been testing positive so i went to my epu as I needed a scan to see if I had any retained pregnancy tissue to which they found I didn't but had the smallest amount of pregnancy tissue there. Also with 2 ovary cysts one being normal the other either a blood filled cyst or possible endometriosis. Anyway, the nurse saw me after and said that it's so strange as the scan i had after my miscarriage showed that I was completely empty and had no pregancny tissue whatsoever so she said I could possibly have a new pregnancy. So bloods have been done. Hcgs were 112 on the 06/11/24. On the 08/11/24 they went down to 93. So i had bloods done again this morning [10/11/24] and just waiting to see how they come back. My pregnancy tests seem to be getting stronger or at least staying just as strong. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this as my head is all over the place atm. Picture of tests which I done yesterday (3 top ones) and this morning (2nd to last was morning wee and last one was around an hour ago).
Thank you for your time of reading. Not only am I confused but so are the nurses up epu!

Hi darling, first of all, I am so sorry for your loss - I feel your pain!

I miscarried and remained testing positive for some time, it was really awful as it gets your hopes up, mine would come back positive immediately and strong.

How long ago did they remove the remaining tissue? X

Thank you lovely. I had a mmc. Found out I was pregnant at only 3 weeks. Bled after sex at 5 weeks had a private scan to be told looks like baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks 5 days and eventually miscarried at 7 weeks. Its been such an emotional ride this. So they scanned me the day after I bled clots to be told looks like my body is doing what it needs to do and to retest in 4 weeks so I retested and still very much positive so they got me in for a scan Wednesday just gone to show that I had pregnancy tissue but not retained (i went up to hospital thinking I would need surgery to be told I could be having a new preganncy). As I have just typed this all out hospital have just called to tell me that they have gone down from 93 to 88 in two days so more bloods on Tuesday for me😪

I completely get it, we found out at 5 weeks with our last, went to scan at 9 weeks (booked early private) all happy and excited to be told baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks, I didn’t miscarry until 11 weeks 😔. Mmc are so hard to fathom, trying to understand why you didn’t know etc…. My heart goes out to you!

I am so sorry you’re now going through what must be another tough situation, the waiting is just awful… sending all my love!

Oh I'm so sorry you went through this too! It's so tough! I keep saying to everyone why can't my first miscarriage just be a somewhat 'normal' miscarriage where I just bled and that would be it. Went through 3 weeks of bleeding but nothing until I officially miscarried around 8 weeks. Then to be possibly going through it 5 weeks apart. Just feel like numb towards the situation as I have 2 children already to care for I just push it to the back of my mind. But can't help but wonder. I will update you Tuesday. Thank you so much for messaging back xx

Hi OP, I miscarried back in July had surgical management, it took me 8 weeks to test negative, felt like a very cruel jokes sometimes our bodies just need more time. Hopefully you get some answers soon x

Xxmaddzz · 10/11/2024 16:36

@Henski it does feel very cruel to be told "it may be a new pregnancy due to hcg being so high 5 weeks after miscarriage" and they're just slowing dropping. I think they're now saying it was a new pregnancy but I'm miscarrying this one. Won't know till Tuesday fingers crossed I get some answers. So sorry for your loss. Its something I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Sending hugs xx

I’m so sorry for your loss. After my surgery for MMC they did a scan and said everything went well and the scan was all clear. The following week I ended up back in hospital with really heavy bleeding and about 30 £2+ size clots. So just because it was a clear scan straight after doesn’t mean there can’t have been retained tissue. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s such heartbreak to have it drag out like this. All the best x
