Can anyone reassure me please, I had a scan at 6 weeks saw the ges sac and baby but didn’t find a heart beat has anyone else experienced this please. We are told to go back in two weeks for another scan but I’m honestly all on edge. I am having all symptoms of a healthy pregnancy, lower back pain, clear/white discharge, headache, fatigue, mood swings, breast tenderness. Please I can’t settle my mind 😭

Not my personal experience but there’s hundreds of posts you can search on here about 6 week scans being too early because of this very reason and it causing more stress as it’s too early for a heartbeat. Hopefully next scan you will see it but it’s normal not too at 6 weeks

Did they say you were measuring 6 weeks? I had a 6 week scan on Wednesday, I am 100% on my dates but could only see a gestational sack and yolk sac. I’ve to go back next week for a rescan. They’ve said even a few days will make a big difference at this stage and I wasn’t measuring 6w x

I had a scan at 5w6. No fetal pole or heartbeat but there was a gestational sac and yolk sac. Went back at 6w4 and heartbeat was there. Now 24 weeks!

This is completely normal as it's still very early. To be honest, they shouldn't even be doing scans this early unless there is a genuine fear of ectopic or other medical issue as it causes so much unnecessary anxiety!

At 6 weeks, you would hope to see the gestational sac and, if your dates are right, the fetal pole and yolk sac too.
It's between 6+1 and 7 weeks when most women would hope to see the fetus and heartbeat.
A scan at this early stage can only tell you that it's implanted in the right location, nothing else. You need to wait a week or 2 to see if the fetus develops and grows as it should in that time.

It's hard to wait but, hopefully, there will be much more to see at your next scan. Also, if you see a healthy heartbeat after 8 weeks, your chance of miscarriage drop ssignificantly so it's worth waiting to have the next scan after that.

Good luck.

I had this. Scanned at 6w showed gestational and yolk sacs but no baby, and they had to do an internal scan to even see that. Went back at 8+1 and saw a foetus with a healthy heartbeat. The wait in between is rubbish, it seemed like the longest two weeks of my life, so I understand the anxiety. Keep yourself as busy as possible and please try not to assume the worst. ❤️
