34 weeks pregnant & bright yellow unusual discharge

okay so there is a TMI picture but i’m 34 weeks pregnant and normally my discharge is clear or white but now my discharge is bright yellow and it was super watery, i didn’t put the pad up far enough on accident and so it soaked my underwear and the pad was watery as well. everything i look up says it’s either your waters or an infection. there is not really any smell and there is no itching or burning either the only thing is increased wetness and the bright yellow color. does anyone know if this is bad or if i should go into labor and delivery to get checked or if its something normal?

Contact either your midwife or the maternity unit.
Better safe than sorry.

also i did call my nurse earlier for my OB office and she just said “it could be an infection but we don’t have any sooner appointments sorry” and that was all and hung up so i didn’t really get any answers and it leaves me worried.

It could be your waters? I would ring the Triage number for your local maternity hospital and speak to a midwife there. Your midwife sounds like she can't be bothered. My waters broke and all the medical people kept saying I was imagining it. Turned out to be true. I would seek advice from them. Tell them you are worried it could be water and see what they say.

Go in now. Likely waters, baby could have passed meconium. Straight in, grab your bag. Better to be checked out and sent home. Midwives would rather you come in 10 times a day than sit and wait, worrying.

Any change in baby's movement?

xoxokatie · 07/11/2024 21:18

no change in movement from what ive noticed

I’ve been getting the same colour as this (although not watery) but I’m well behind you at 11 weeks. I’d be very interested to hear what you’re told, and hope all is well xx

HVPRN · 08/11/2024 13:23

Hope all is well @xoxokatie x

AHeartAPenny · 08/11/2024 13:33

That looks an awful lot like meconium stained waters, which would be unusual and concerning at 34 weeks.
I'd be pushing hard to be seen, OP, and also putting in a complaint about there being "no appointments" - spontaneous rupture of membranes at 34 weeks with meconium is an urgent, borderline emergency situation.
Assume you're in the States?

AHeartAPenny · 08/11/2024 13:35

Sorry, missed the latest update that you're in the hospital. Hope you (plural) are OK

xoxokatie · 08/11/2024 16:03

so update, they told me that the color could be a sign of infection or waters broken but they did testing and everything came back normal. they did a ultrasound scan and my fluid levels are good and they tested it and it came back negative for amniotic fluid. they also swabbed me to test for any infections and said that i’m negative and said since i’m near the end of my pregnancy that the color is probably just changing and it’s normal, they said i don’t need to be worried unless it’s brown or green colored but that it was still good i came in to get checked.

xoxokatie · 12/11/2024 23:13

okay so update, it is now november 12th and i have come back to labor and delivery because i woke up to bloody spotting in my discharge now. at labor and delivery they have told me i am 1cm dilated and they have picked up some contractions on the monitor and my cervix is very very thin so labor could progress fast. they said they are going to check me in a few hours and if i have not progressed anymore they will send me home but baby looks good

Good luck @xoxokatie hope all goes smoothly. I know baby maybe a little early but you are in the right place.

HVPRN · 13/11/2024 08:15

Honestly, advocate for yourself and whoever your support person is, ask them to do the same. Don't be sent home. Really thinking of you Flowers
