4 days late…negative tests

Hi all

I am 4 days late today, currently ttc and made sure we made the most of our chances in our fertile window last month!
I have had cramping like my period is coming for the last 7 days but still nothing.
I’ve taken 3 strip tests and they’ve all come back negative.
Has anyone had this before? It is so frustrating as no idea what’s going on. My cycle length is sitting at 39 days currently this cycle and I’m starting to worry about PCOS etc. I had a 35 day cycle last cycle and am usually like clockwork. This is the latest I’ve ever been.
I’m not sure how long I should wait for my period before speaking to GP?
Grateful for any advice xx

At 4 days late I would say that if you are pregnant, the tests would most likely be coming back positive by now. It’s not always the case though. Are you sure you ovulated at the time you think you did? Were you tracking ovulation with sticks? It may be that you ovulated later than you had assumed and your period isn’t late at all.

It’s not beyond possibility that you are pregnant but the tests still aren’t detecting it yet. Maybe leave it a few more days. Test again, if it’s still negative contact your GP and explain your concerns. They might be able to do a more sensitive blood test for pregnancy, or perhaps run some hormone tests. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you that are pregnant!!

How old are you OP? My previously like clockwork cycles starting to go a bit haywire when I hit my later 30's then even worse after 40.

It could be that you ovulated late this month and there is still a chance, it could be a randomly long cycle and eventually your period will arrive, or it could be a skipped month which happens to all women at least once and normally with no explanation

You may have ovulated late or as previous poster suggested may be just cycles changing a bit? X

I am struggling with the same situation. I have all pregnancy symptoms (not my first one), 3 days late and all tests are negative. However for some reason when I was pregnant previously none of 'Early detection' tests came positive even on day 1 of expected period and I have a very regular cycle. I only tested positive 4-5 days after.

Thank you, I am 33. Stopped taking contraceptive pill in June so only been off a few months so it could just be adjustment.

Sorry to hear you’re in the same situation, it’s so frustrating isn’t it! I’ve seen a few things online saying keep testing for the next week if my period doesn’t show. It’s interesting you only tested positive last time at 4-5 days after. I’m using the pink dye strip tests and they are absolutely 100% negative at the moment! Keep me updated and hope you get the outcome you want xx

Hi! I used Clearblue digital and it was positive. It also indicated I am 1-2 weeks pregnant, which is an underestimation as I must be over 3 weeks now. I guess my level of hormones is quite low, that's why I am not seeing anything on the non digital tests.
