Hi,

I found out Im pregnant less than a week ago and trying to refer into a hospital, I am in St Albans, so options are Watford, Lister, QEII and Barnet maybe, although a bit farther, has anyone have recent experiences and can recommend me one?
Their ratings don't seem to be great so I am a bit worried, any help would be great!
Thank you!

Hi!
I have just moved out of st Albans had my first daughter in Lister. I had a really awful experience for the most part and would not give birth there again. The midwives for the most part were lovely but I had a consultant laugh at me for asking for a c section saying why do women always want the easy way out.....
The post natal ward was also really grotty and I have really bad memories from it.
Unfortunately any of the Hertfordshire maternity wards aren't fantastic, I've heard bad experiences at all of them. I am pregnant with no2 and will be looking at stoke mandeville for this one as I have heard more positive experiences.

I gave birth at Watford General - it was fine. People seemed a bit cold in my appointments in the run up to birth but nothing awful.

I've heard awful things about Lister, SIL gave birth there and it was very traumatic.

Heard good things about Stoke Mandeville and also Luton & Dunstable, though appreciate neither are technically Herts but are still pretty close (similar distance from St Albans from some you've mentioned!)
