Pregnancy following medical termination

I just need to ask. I had to have a medical termination following a silent miscarriage. I’ve had all the necessity negative tests that that pregnancy ended and the bleeding stopped however I’m now 5+ weeks on and I’m very likely bleeding when wiping and have had a very faint positive today. So my question is has anyone had the bleeding that follows a termination but still also been newly pregnant in that time?

Gentle congratulations OP. I think from your post you didn’t have a period in between? I got pregnant after a spontaneous miscarriage without a period and had a small amount of bleeding in the subsequent pregnancy. I was later diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma, which I think could be possible if not all of the lining came away with your termination. It could also be implantation bleeding. That baby is now 18 months old, and the remainder of the pregnancy was uneventful. But please do tell your EPU/midwife, they’ll often give you a scan for bleeding after miscarriage for reassurance. 💐

Thank you so much for your reply! This is the positive test (I should add that I was getting negatives on all tests including first response for over a week before this) but all other tests are barely faint if not negative so I’m extremely confused on how to take it. If I’m pregnant or not.

Sorry to hear about your missed miscarriage. It's a really cruel thing to happen.

I got pregnant 3 weeks after the medical procedure (MVA) and had weekly bleeds for 8 weeks. At first I thought I had had a chemical pregnancy but my tests kept getting stronger. As I was bleeding so much, I went to the EPU every time (weekly!) to be scanned but amazingly it was fine every time. Baby boy is now 17 months old. So yes, it could all be just benign bleeding(could just be implantation bleeding) and there's definitely a chance that your new pregnancy will have a positive outcome. But all you can do at this stage is wait and hope for the best. It's such a terrible place to be in, I know. I was so so anxious at the time. Sending you lots of love and strong nerves x

Can you try a Clear Blue Weeks indicator test? They show up from 10hcg and I find that’s much easier to read. Or if you don’t have one try again with your first morning urine tomorrow and see if it’s got any darker. All the best x
