I'm just wondering what peoples personal experiences were with babies that were measuring large and then what weight they were born?
Specifically those WITHOUT GD.
They said my son would be fairly big and pushed an induction on me at 38 weeks , he was born at 39 weighing 8lb 6.
Now second pregnancy and they are saying this one is really big, bigger than my first.
I am tall though and consultant seems level headed about induction and knows I am really not keen on one.
Equally I'm not keen on going over due and baby getting too big.
I'm nearly 32 weeks and babies EFW is 5lbs. AC off the scale but femur and head are 93rd centile.
I am having another scan at 37 weeks so will make a plan then. I just feel really anxious now whereas I was feeling ok about the prospect of birth.
I am aware the scans have a margin of error 10/15 percent either way. I did ask in my specific hospital they said it's more like 10 percent there and have done many audits.

My eldest was 10 lb 5 at 41 weeks. I wasn't tested for Gd

2nd baby was tested & didn't have GD. I was measuring 47cm at 35 weeks & they said he could be bigger than eldest.

I had elective section at 37.5 & he was 9lbs 3. They said he could've been over 11lbs if I went full term or over Blush

Thanks for sharing your experience. Was your first a C section too?

My experience was that the scans were very erratic - although I was having twins which did complicate the measurements.

One week (I think 32 weeks) I was told they were measuring 7 and 6 lb. A week later I was told 3 and 2. At 37 weeks they estimated both around 8. I had a planned section at 36w7 and they were 9lb 2 and 5lb 10z.

I was induced with eldest but ended in CS as he was too big to fit - not that they put that in my notes. Just put failure to progress

Had lots of growth scans as measuring big. Baby was 97th centile at largest but seemed to slow down towards end of pregnancy and ended up 88th percentile so out of range of concern. I had two GTT tests but didn't have GD. I'm also tall and was a big baby myself. Didn't have induction although one was offered, went into labour naturally and delivered baby vaginally at 41 weeks. He weighed 8lb 11 which I think is 90th centile ish but obviously that's with him being a week late.

Dd2 was predicted to be over 4kg and I was induced at 39+2 (due to pre-eclampsia). She was born 3.5kg, which was less that her predicted weight at 37 weeks growth scan so there is a margin of error.

I had a scan at 42 weeks and they predicted 9lb 8... born 2 days later at 8lb 8 so pretty inaccurate for me

DC1 measured average and was born at 8lbs 15 at 42 weeks - which was 75th centile though obvs 2 weeks overdue. Birth was easy.

DC2 was measuring ahead and scans estimated she would be 9lbs on her due date, which was 92nd centile. GD results inconclusive as they did them too late (at 37 weeks). I had read so much stuff about inaccurate scans I refused to believe it. She was born on her due date at 9lbs exactly so it was spot on. I was induced after my waters broke but Labour didn’t start - if that hadn’t happened I’m sure I would have been overdue again, so quite relieved that didn’t happen and she wasn’t any bigger! Birth was even easier than dc1.

DC was 9,lb at 40 weeks. EMCS
Dc2 was 10.9lbs at 39 weeks. ELCS
After dc2 I was tested for GD with further pregnancies.
DC3 was 10lb at 39 weeks, no GD. ELCS
Dc4 was 11.6lbs at 38 weeks, no GD. ELCS.
Midwives concluded that I just grow giant babies, all 4dc perfectly average size children now.

I had multiple scans in the last few months due to reduced movements and pre-eclampsia and the measurements were never right for me.

I was told she was bang on average, always hovering around the 50th centile, to expect a 7.5-8lb baby etc.

She was born at 38 weeks just 5lb 10oz so teeny tiny for her gestation, less than 10th centile - family had to rush out and buy smaller clothes and nappies!
