10 weeks pregnant and horrendous thrush what can I do?

Title says it all really. I've been on anti-biotics for a water infection which is was I presume has caused the thrush. I think it could be the worst I've ever had.

Will I be able to get something for it from the chemist, or will they tell me I need to go to GP cos I'm pregnant. If so I won't be able to get anything till Monday and I don't think I can stand it till then.

go to the chemist. have you used canesten before, but not recently?? if so you'll be fine. don't tell them you are pregnant, or they won't give it to you, but it is perfectly safe. even the vaginal pessary is ok if your preg is ok with no bleeding worries. you can't take the tablet - blue - fluconazole, but can use the cream or pessary.

or ring the out of hours GP service and explain, they should give you a prescription, maybe without seeing you.

don't suffer, it's horrid!!

hope this helps. I went to boots and got canesten combi (cream and pessary) when 24 weeks preg. with a loose coat on. wasn't even asked if I was pregnant, so didn't have to lie! Cass.

I second what cass66 says. Ive had it twice since being pregnant, once due to antibiotics. I got my husband to get it for me as pharmacists are not allowed to give it to you if you are pregnant. But I think its perfectly safe, both the doc and midwife have prescribed it for me in previous pregnancy.

Hope it clears up soon, its really awful isnt it?

Thanks both of you. I have been prescribed treatment in my previuos pregnancy but couldn't remember what I had. I knew though that if I said I was pregnant the chemist probably wouldn't give me anything.

Will go and get it this afternoon as nearly going mental with the soreness and itchiing.

I had this too tutu, lost sleep from itching for a weekend cos I couldn't hide pregnancy at 32 weeks so had to wait to got to GP! Also after antibiotics, I'm sure its worse when pregnant!

A nice salty bath with no soap and then sit legs a kimber without any underwear (if you can!!!). And get a little cream as previously suggested and tie your hands behind your back .

I find that natural plain yoghurt works just as well as the canesten cream as well if it keeps coming back...you might need to cut out bread and caffeine for a bit as well...
