Are there any sonographers on here to tell me if this is possible?

I had a scan (NHS) today at 26+1 as I thought baby was generally not kicking as much as he used to (all was fine). He was facing forward and sonographer showed me his face. His eyes just showed the sockets (as one would expect), however, she stopped on his nose and lips and I could swear I saw his nose and lips properly. They were really full and cute.

I'm in disbelief though as I thought the normal 2d ultrasounds only showed x-ray type images (nasal bones etc as opposed to an actual image of his nose).

Please tell me I didn't imagine this?! 🥰

Seems normal! Ultrasounds are not x-rays, they can pick up tissue, You definitely did not imagine it :)

Book a scan at window to the womb private company you get a video at the end of it. It's absolutely amazing. I had mine around that time.

That’s normal. I’m a midwife.

They assess for cleft lip and / or palate as part of the anomaly USS and have to be able to see the face to do that.

It shows much more than just bone.

I had quite a lot of extra scans in my second pregnancy and clearly saw baby's face on one of them when the sonography paused to show me. I actually gasped - he looked SO like his big sister! It was an amazing moment. I'm so glad you had that too 🥰

(My kids still look alike - people ask me if they are twins!)
