So ladies, update.. had a sweep!!! Let’s see how the next 24-48 hours go lol

RedRobyn2021 · 27/11/2024 21:54

Sorry TMI

But those who were saying the other day that they're going to the toilet a lot for a poo, are your babies engaged?

My midwife said baby is 1/5 and I'm wondering if this is why I've been having this the last week or two

Yes I’ve been 3/5-4/5 engaged 😅

LilyJessie · 28/11/2024 14:45

@Twinkletwinklelil - how was the sweep? How far along are you?

39+3 but according to my initial calc id be 40 today!! @LilyJessie
it was fine, a little uncomfortable but the midwife said she felt like that was a good sweep..whatever that means lol!

LilyJessie · 28/11/2024 15:41

@Twinkletwinklelil eeeeek, everything crossed it gets things moving along soon! Xx

GammaTheGecko · 28/11/2024 16:17

@HelterSkelter224 my due date is 17th! Best of luck 💕

Anyone have any experiences with physiological vs manual/active placenta delivery?? Can't decide which to put on my birthplan. Also do they inject while you're still having your baby (I saw somewhere it's when the baby's shoulders are about to be out) or after they've been delivered? And would it be while the umbilical cord is still attached as I'm going for delayed cord clamping?

Just got my elcs date - 17 December at 7.30am. Although it says it's an outpatient appointment- surely not???

Ah how exciting!! Abit later than you wanted though isn't it?
I rang my midwife today, she said supposedly my trust do tend of just spring it on you.. really not ideal and I'm going to push for it more tomorrow at my midwife appointment.
I think considering I'll be 38weeks on Monday and still don't have a clue is abit ridiculous, she also said they may call me the day before for the pre op appointment. How far gone will you be on the 17th? X

Lunamoon23 · 28/11/2024 19:00

@LilyJessie I finished yesterday, at 37weeks+3days. I was so ready to finish, although still hasn't sank in I don't have to go into work tomorrow 😂

now off until January 2026. 🥳

Lunamoon23 · 28/11/2024 19:01

@Twinkletwinklelil ahh! How exciting, fingers crossed for you!! X

HelterSkelter224 · 28/11/2024 20:01

@Lunamoon23 I'll be 39+4, I had hoped for 39w on the dot but wishful thinking given that's a Friday and they don't do weekends. I did check with my midwife and apparently I'll definitely be kept in overnight, couldn't believe a c-section could be considered an outpatient procedure!! Oh hopefully you get your date sooner rather than later, it's definitely put my mind at ease now knowing when I'll be going in, my mum will come over to stay for a few days to help out as well. Good luck with your midwife appt xx

Can I ask how far along you are now? sorry, you've probably said. Baby brain..
I'm glad you're able to plan though, takes a lot of the stress away. My mum is going to come and stay with the dogs when we are in, and she's ready to jump in whenever, I more just want to know so I can work myself up to it. 😂 x

HelterSkelter224 · 28/11/2024 20:39

@Lunamoon23 I'm 37w tomorrow, so just over 2 weeks to go. I totally understand wanting to prepare yourself, even with 2 weeks notice it feels very soon!

Lunamoon23 · 28/11/2024 20:48

@HelterSkelter224 I know. At this rate I'm going to have a weeks notice. I'm really hoping I can get some answers tomorrow. Xxxx

LilyJessie · 28/11/2024 21:34

@GammaTheGecko
I don't know masses about it, but I'm going to see how the birth goes and how I feel.
I don't believe they inject you when the baby is still in, but I'm not expert.
I am more drawn to having the active management as it'll be quicker!

Hi @GammaTheGecko i opted for active management. Baby was out. Injection done. They got the placenta out. Easy and fast.. :)

CatCaretaker · 28/11/2024 22:33

@GammaTheGecko I've never done it / had it (first baby) but the way the midwives were talking during the antenatal classes, active management and delayed cord clamping are not mutually exclusive. They said that both are standard practice in the hospital, so they must be compatible!

Well ladies, I think it’s happening! Will update when I can but having mild contractions
eeek

HopefulElle · 29/11/2024 05:24

Good luck @Twinkletwinklelil! Might not be far behind you.. I’m currently in hospital with high blood pressure, on medication and planning to monitor for 24hours - if it’s not come down enough I’ll be induced this afternoon (38+4).

HelterSkelter224 · 29/11/2024 07:43

Good luck @Twinkletwinklelil @HopefulElle ❤️❤️❤️ exciting times!!

Twinkletwinklelil · 29/11/2024 08:35

Thanks all! They’ve asked me to stay home now.. I’ve been having contractions since 3am! It’s a slow burner again… got to walk this baby out I think! I did sooo much kerb walking after the sweep yesterday… must’ve done the trick!

@HopefulElle good luck! Hope yours progresses nicely :)

LilyJessie · 29/11/2024 08:44

@HopefulElle - whoops I tagged the wrong person before as it was an H!
Good luck 🤞🏼🍀 so exciting xx

How exciting! Moving definitely helps, have you got a birthing ball? Doing rotation on there, child’s pose etc are all great to get baby descending!

@HopefulElle hope your blood pressure comes down and you get to meet baby soon as well!

Lunamoon23 · 29/11/2024 14:51

Good luck @Twinkletwinklelil !!! Won't be long for you now and you'll have baby in your arms.

Ladies, can I ask, how much swelling feet wise is too much swelling?? My feet look/feel pretty swollen, but at this point in pregnancy I don't know if that's just normal water retention or something I should be concerned by. I'm 37+5 today. The skin feels tight and itchy and it's a struggle to get into my trainers. X
