@RedRobyn2021 that makes sense regarding the mastitis over Christmas 😂

Thankfully, I've taken the stance from the get go that I'm not going to apply too much pressure to myself.
I absolutely want to try to breastfeed but if I'm finding it too difficult or mentally too much, I'm very open to changing to formula if needed.
In my opinion if two people were stood In front of you, one breastfed and one formula fed you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, fed is best and I think it's important for me to not apply to much pressure mentally, because I suffer with mental health (although I've managed it extremely well for the last couple of years) I want to maintain that. Happy mum = happy baby.

Even if I can manage those first few weeks. 🤞🏼

What's everyone's opinions of people kissing baby?? I've told all my family they're not to kiss baby, I've had some disappointed looks but all understanding!

Re kissing baby, I agree with you especially in winter. Too many ferns going about. People understand.

Re breastfeeding that's a great attitude to have. I struggled and it really made me feel like a failure. Going in with a much more pragmatic attitude this time. A friend of mine sent this to me when I was struggling with breastfeeding and it made me laugh. Three years on it couldn't be more accurate 😂

Ah it’s a good mix then!! How exciting. I’ve just heard of lots of girls being born recently!
im having a girl.. or at least that’s what we’ve been told 😂

Firsttimetrier · 26/11/2024 21:30

@Lunamoon23 absolutely no kissing the baby is our rule. We were in hospital last Christmas with our then 1 year old with RSV, so not taking the risk again. He was on oxygen for 4 days and was awful to see. There’s no chance I’m going through that again, especially with a newborn.

Firsttimetrier · 26/11/2024 21:32

@Twinkletwinklelil we’re having a boy and as this pregnancy has felt so different from my first who is a boy, I did ask them to double check at our recent growth scan and she said “yep, no denying he’s a boy” 😂

Lunamoon23 · 26/11/2024 22:15

@HelterSkelter224 hahaha! That's so true!! But yeah I'm taking a completely open approach, what will be will be and I'm not going to not enjoy my baby because I'm stressing about breastfeeding if I can feed him formula and him be just as happy and content.

Glad you all agree regarding the no kissing rule! I'll be sticking firmly too it.

Also, anyone else private parts swollen and sore?!! It's my mons pubis, so swollen! Feels full of fluid. And my ankles - my god, what ankles 😂😂
I'm pretty certain being stood on my feet for 8-9 hours a day with short sit down breaks is the cause, too much weight of those areas! Roll on end of day tomorrow when maternity leave begins!

Also, any previous c section mums. I've got 12 days before I'm 39 weeks and I've heard nothing regarding my pre op or scheduled date? Should I be chasing this up?? I'm anxious they're going to drop it on me really last minute and I'd love to have a little bit of time to mentally prepare myself... 😅

starryx · 26/11/2024 18:02

I know my sister got offered one at 38 weeks and within a day baby was out :) she said it wasn't too bad just slightly uncomfortable. She has had it for both her pregnancies.

Thanks @starryx that’s really helpful x
i am considering it.. if baby isn’t here by Thursday i might just go ahead!

anyone else had a sweep?

LilyJessie · 26/11/2024 23:25

Does anyone have that uncomfortable feeling right on their bladder that actually (painful not the right word) but feels incredibly uncomfortable when baby moves? Like pelvis and bladder?
It feels awful to me.

MaybeBaby2024 · 27/11/2024 00:34

@LilyJessie I think I know what you mean, I feel like someone is pushing on/ squeezing my bladder and feel like I need to pee all the time which is uncomfortable.

@Twinkletwinklelil yes in my last pregnancy I had a sweep at 38 + 4 and went into labour 4 days later. But could just be coincidence. I don’t really remember exactly what it felt like but it definitely wasn’t awful.

Had another growth scan today (35 + 2) baby is head down so hopefully he stays in that position! They were trying again to push me to go to the obstetric ward for birth because of my BMI 🙄 even though I’ve only gained 5 pounds since booking. At least this time I was able to say I’ve had a discussion with the consultant midwife and she’s happy for me to try delivery in the midwife led unit.

MaybeBaby2024 · 27/11/2024 01:34

@starryx yes same here with the wanting to clean kitchen and bathrooms all the time! Just sounds like you are nesting.

I’ve Been cleaning everything lol. And itching to declutter all the drawers and cupboards but hard to do when DC1 is awake and coming behind me undoing all my sorting and tidying 😅

@LilyJessie I get what I can only describe as shooting nerve like feelings in my bladder like baby is pushing it. Hint why I am awake at 5am... 😂

LilyJessie · 27/11/2024 10:04

@OnNaturesCourse - Yes! I find it really quite an uncomfortable feeling.
@MaybeBaby2024 - that's great news 🙏🏼

I have my birth plan appt today with the midwife, I hope I am listened to with what is important to me!
All getting very real.
I'm worried I won't be strong or good enough to labour a baby...

RedRobyn2021 · 27/11/2024 12:29

@LilyJessie yes I have this

RedRobyn2021 · 27/11/2024 12:30

Has anyone been doing any stretches?

If you are what have you been doing?

OnNaturesCourse · 27/11/2024 12:54

@RedRobyn2021 I have been doing some pregnancy yoga on YouTube - nice and relaxed.

Just been for my 37 week midwife appointment and been told all is well but babys head is free so little terror is no longer engaged like he was over the weekend... I'm very frustrated but know he can bounce in and out of engagement as its my 3rd baby, 4th birth. Just had so many signs he's on his way sooner and now it's not looking likely.

Have you done any hypnobirthing? This helps me reframe how I mentally feel about birth. I freak out that I won’t be able to handle it and go through with it, but having some positive affirmations to listen to/read has massively helped!

HelterSkelter224 · 27/11/2024 15:49

@Lunamoon23 was it you that said you had put together a postpartum caddy? I thought this was a great idea, what have you put in it?

I'm still in full nesting mania 🤣🤣 never Ben more productive in my life since that labour scare on Friday night lol

It was! Thank you! I figured after putting caddy's together to care for baby, it might be nice to do one to take care of myself too. Mine might be a little different to what you need/want, as I am having a csection. Which is another reason I did it, to make everything within handy reach or to just ask Husband to bring me the caddy if I need something rather than trying to explain where or what it is when we're both sleep deprived. 😂

  • Frida mom disposable underwear
  • spare large cotton underwear (incase of leaks)
  • silicone c section scar strips
  • maternity pads (huge ones and I also brought some of the new always infinity pads, which are so comfortable for when the bleeding calms down a little)
  • I've also got the frida mom c section wasteband belt with heat and cool pads in.
  • femfresh wipes so I can freshen up inbetween showers whilst bleeding.
  • pain killers
  • vitamins
  • lip balm and hand and face moisturiser
  • hand sanitizer
  • nice face wipes
  • eye masks (for under eyes)
  • nipple cream & disposable breast pads
  • laxatives & stool softeners
  • cura-heat heat pads (for back pain)
And I've stored it in our bedroom ensuite. I've also brought myself a nice shampoo and conditioner and luxury body wash for post baby, just so I can make myself feel a little better in the depths of postpartum. 😂

And I'm going shopping tomorrow with my mum and I'm going to buy myself two new pairs on PJs for when I'm home from hospital for those early days. Nothing like new PJs!
Hope that helps xxx
