Possible positive test

Feeling super stressed this morning. I have the attached result from a Sainsbury’s pregnancy test yesterday, and had an even fainter line first thing in the morning. Also took a clear blue digital yesterday that was negative.

I have taken 2 new Sainsburys tests this morning both negative. Any advice?

So all other tests have been negative? Including the same brand? I would then think it’s a false positive (does occasionally occur especially if urine enters through the test window).

Is your period late?

TTCupdates · 03/11/2024 08:37

Not late yet. I’m on day 30 and my cycle is usually 33 days.

And yes all others were negative. Apart from one super early in the morning that was a very faint line.

Definitely more leaning towards false positive, very emotional!

I've had the same problem:( with all my Sainsbury's and Morrisons tests

Feel sad as been trying for so many years and I'm just getting false positive🤷🏼‍♀️I'm 5 days late on my period and having very bad cramps

TTCupdates · 03/11/2024 08:54

Aww I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been trying for so long :(

I am really early stages of trying so I can’t really advise on the cramps but a late period is a good sign? I think we should bin the supermarket own tests and only use trusted ones like clear blue. I have everything crossed for you!!

I had the same. 4 Sainsbury's tests over 4 days each with a pink line, and each test line darker than the one before. I did a fifth and it was negative. I then bought another pack of Sainsbury's tests and they were faulty as a control line didn't even come up on either (2 tests in the pack). It all totally messed my head up so I decided to just wait and see if my period comes, i'm due on today. I have always trusted the Sainsbury's tests, they seemed so reliable when I fell pregnant earlier on on the year (which sadly ended in an MC). It might simply be that when you did the test that came up negative (myself also) that the concentration of HCG was low due to drinking more fluids up to that point. When are you due on your period?

TTCupdates · 03/11/2024 10:42

Interesting, did your positive line come up straight away? Mine appeared positive within seconds which is why I was so convinced.

so sorry to hear about your experience early this year. It’s really emotional and I have only been trying for 2 months.

I am due on next Thursday although my cycle can range. But it is normally around 33 days which would mean my period is due next Thursday. I guess I should just wait and not torture myself with more tests?

I have everything crossed for you!

My Sainsbury's came back positive within a minute there were 2 lines but faint
It's messed with my head also so I'm not testing anymore waiting to see if my period comes I'm late by 5 days🤷🏼‍♀️

TTCupdates · 03/11/2024 10:51

Part of me thinks they just can’t be this inaccurate! Don’t get too excited but also DEFINITELY don’t lose hope!! I had read so many articles about false positives being extremely rare (like 1%). But also read terrible reviews about Sainsbury’s tests. It’s all so confusing 🫠🫠

You’ll drive yourself mad testing early. I tried for 5 years for my eldest and I did more tests than you can imagine.
Try and wait until your period is late, so much less heartache.
7 times I had positive tests that turned out to be nothing with a period coming a few weeks later.
The best advice I ever took was from a near retirement doctor - wait until you’ve missed a period and you next one is late before testing.

The first two came up just after the time but the second two within seconds and all we're very clearly pink and each darker than the one before. I'd tested as my symptoms were so strong. False positive are rare, unlike false negatives, so I'm staying hopeful.
Aw thank you, I have everything crossed for you too. Keep us updated x

This was the last test I did with a positive pink line.

They weren't nothing, they were (unfortunately) very early miscarriages/ chemical pregnancies.

Xxmickixx · 03/11/2024 11:37

But all my clear blue tests are negative:/

See they look positive to me, everywhere I read says a faint line is a positive test. Thats what I had yesterday, maybe ever so slightly thicker in the beginning but then faded massively but today it’s a clear negative :(

They weren't nothing, they were (unfortunately) very early miscarriages/ chemical pregnancies.

They didn’t result in a baby - so to me they had to be nothing, if I framed it otherwise I wouldn’t cope with that loss. Who could get up everyday thinking the should have 9 children but has 2. Not me that’s for sure.

Xxmickixx · 03/11/2024 12:50

Yes that's the thing I've had regular periods and we are trying for 5 years I've been diagnosed with pcos and had surgery last November to get rid of endometriosis 😫😫😫

I'm so sorry :(

People try for years and year but eventually do have a successful pregnancy so the best thing you can do is try not to stress, don't put too much pressure on it and just try and keep it out of your mind. So many people say that when they 'stop trying' it eventually happens so I have full hope it will happen for you :)

I have PCOS and endometriosis.
It took 5 years to conceive my eldest and 3 years my youngest.

All my tests are coming back negative today :(Sad

Foxlovesfruit · 04/11/2024 17:08

@Xxmickixx aw I'm sorry. Might be worth seeing the GP and getting a blood test to see if that picks HCG up or offer an explanation for why so late and negative tests?

Xxmickixx · 04/11/2024 17:09

I'm thinking of giving them a call tomorrow
