How is my bump like this at 10 weeks?

10 weeks pregnant, I haven't even seen my midwife yet. My stomach was flat before pregnancy except the bit under the belly button, above it was flat. How is my bump like this? It's like this no matter what time of the day and it doesn't seem possible? Any thoughts would be so appreciated, my head is all over the place. Thank you.

Congratulations? What is it that is going through your head?
Are you standing straight in the photo? It's hard to tell from the photo.

Pregnancy hormones cause lots of bloating and cause your ribs to spread, perfectly normal.

It's really not a clear photo but it looks normal to me. I was a size 8 and people could definitely guess I was pregnant by about 8 weeks.

It’s bloating and pretty common at this stage.

The early bloating is terrible- i looked huge at 8 weeks and it felt rock solid

@pumpkinpice, try not to get too hung up on it, lovely. Your body is having to contend with a lot of changes right now. Rapidly increasing hormones can contribute to bloating / water retention.

If it helps to know, I am currently 15 weeks PG with baby #2 and was horrifically bloated/constipated for the first trimester. I am a long-time non-competitive weightlifter, which I do for my mental health and as a crucial part of my ADHD management. Through many years of training, I had developed visible abs, so it was definitely a bit of a shock to the system to see such an overnight change. However, in the last week or so, I have miraculously started having regular BMs again and the bloating has disappeared, so much so that I freaked out because I suddenly lost what I thought was my bump!

Go easy on yourself and try to remember what an amazing job your body is doing growing a whole new life 💖 x

Bloating!!! I had this from around 10 weeks too and felt huge 😂

It's bloating not the baby/bump. The embryo is still well down in your pelvis at this stage. If it's first pregnancy most don't get a proper bump until nearer 20 weeks. The bloating will probably start to go down after 12 weeks.
