Hello,

I’m being bonkers and just need someone to tell me that. Had painters in yesterday painting a room downstairs. I work upstairs where I sat with the window open most of the day, and then I was really only downstairs when making dinner. They had the windows of the room open and then I also opened the patio doors after they left.

I think for the woodwork they used Dulux once satinwood which is an oil based paint so it did smell. Today I opened a lot of windows and doors to really air the place out.

Considering I didn’t even paint myself I feel like I’m being extra ridiculous but would this do any harm to baby at 22 weeks pregnant. Do paint fumes even travel that far up the stairs to have that much of an effect when windows and doors are open!

Thanks for any and all reassurance.

My understanding is that even if you're doing the painting, if the room is well ventilated and you're wearing a mask it would be fine (and it's only oil based paints which would be an issue as you say). Id avoid being the one doing the painting and keep the room well ventilated but otherwise think it'd be fine..

Tho as always, would check with a medical professional if you're really worried!

I've just painted the babies nursery and did when around 30 weeks pregnant with last baby with no issues. As long as it was ventilated it will be fine. I'm sure there's plenty of other fumes when you're out and about that you breathe in (car fumes/ vape fumes/smoke) that are hard to avoid in every day life.

Thanks guys, feel much more rational today and you’re right, sometimes we just can’t avoid everything. I’ve well and truly aired the house out and can’t even smell paint now so quite happy! And baby boy moving away which always makes you feel better doesn’t it!
