I was in a rush and got a chicken tikka baguette made up from deli and wondering is it safe to eat during pregnancy? I was really craving something like this

I’m sure you’ll be fine.
i eat the subway Italian meat sandwiches, ham, chicken mayo sandwiches and I’ve been fine

Thank it says to avoid deli meats cold but tbh I was in a hurry so didn’t even think. They had actually made it up on front of me

I’ve never had an issue
i I think because of the food safety standards required it’s a very small risk?

https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/ Seems chicken is ok, not salami, cured meats etc.

I eat cured meats.

Sounds delicious, enjoy.

As pp said, the term 'deli meat' is used to describe cured meats, not just any meat served in a deli..... and even with cured meat, it's just precautionary advice. The risk is miniscule.

Deli meats are cured meats. They're ok to eat too if they have been heated first.e.g. on pizza, in pasta. Your chicken tikka will be fine to eat

If meat has been cured rather than cooked there is a small risk of toxoplasmosis. When cooked (e.g. on a pizza) this risk would not be present as cooking would kill the bacteria. This is the same risk for rare or medium rare steak.

Chicken isn't an issue as it would have been cooked.
