Hi
i am 5w 6d pregnant today. I had gone to the A&E on Saturday coz of pain in my tummy. They did beta HCG and after the results came they said that I will be offered a scan on Monday to see if everything is where it should be. So today is Monday and my question is do I call the EPU and ask for an appointment or will they call me and give me a time to come in?

If you haven't heard anything by now then yes I would call them and see what the process is. Hope all is well.

MrsWUFCwifey · 28/10/2024 12:16

I would certainly call and make things happen rather than wait for them....good luck

Give them as ring however they may be not that interested.

Have you got severe abdominal pain?
Have you got shoulder pain?
Are you bleeding?
Do you have a high temprature?

These are questions you will be asked

I called them and got a call back saying that the doctors say you should come tomorrow for another beta HCG and then they’ll see what can be done next. I was actually expecting to get a scan done today😒.. it’s very difficult to bleed me too so I am all the more anxious now

It makes more sense to check a second hCG before bothering with a scan, OP.

And at less than six weeks, a scan could be inconclusive.

It’s very stressful early pregnancy. Before six weeks they will only see a yolk so can’t confirm a viable pregnancy.

Did you say you were now bleeding?

mumOfS · 28/10/2024 15:59

Not bleeding really… but some brownish mucous type of a discharge every time I go to the toilet.. but nothing on the pad that I am wearing.

I said that it’s very difficult to obtain a blood sample from me. It takes a lot of pricks😒 so was thinking usg would have been better.

No. A comparison of the two levels is of great value.

ShowmetheBotox · 28/10/2024 19:54

Yes they need 2 HCG blood tests to see if your hormone is rising. They won’t book you in for a scan as I know the sonographers are backed up and you won’t be classed as an emergency.

This is the worse bit. Flowers

You could book in for a private scan as an embryo should be visible by 6 weeks. But that’s only if you ARE six weeks. You could be a few days out it your cycle is irregular or longer than 28 days.

mumOfS · 29/10/2024 06:45

Have the blood test booked in for today.. just praying and hoping for the best.. but thank you to everybody who took time to comment on the post🤗

Make sure you are well hydrated as it can make taking bloods easier. Good luck today.

mumOfS · 29/10/2024 12:44
