trying to eat more fruit & veg, etc to keep it at bay but it just seems to flare up really quickly - when i'm constipated for 1 day even. does this mean i will have piles like a bunch of grapes after i give birth??

Probably is the honest answer. I did with dd, they never quite went away and are still pretty bad after i had ds who is now 14 weeks! My poor bum!

sorry, but probably, yes

mine were shocking postpartum, both times. worse than the stitches

but the good news is they are treatable

and now i just have to be super careful about not straining

i would advise buying lots of anusol and a sports bottle

sports bottle is to douche yourself with after a poo wiping = baaaaad. i would get in a lukewam bath and have a good old squirt. dab dry. apply uggins of anusol

Yep, the fiery pits of arseland will be resident in your pants very shortly. The good news is GPs are very willing to give you decent steriod and anaesthetic creams afterward which shrink the little blighters away in a few days. Or you can have banding surgery (apparently not as horrid as it sounds).

I was stocking up on Germoloid cream for post-birth piles today and I noticed that you can now buy special bottom wet-wipes that are impregnated with lotion. I might get some because as Tutter says, "wiping = baaaad"!

Drink lots of water as well as the fruit & veg. They do heal up and they do go away.
