Hi all just asking for a bit of advice
I'm 36 weeks pregnant today saw my consultant yesterday they are saying I am been booked in for a csection at 38 weeks due to a few health issues all the way through pregnancy:( but they gave me 6th November till 13th November as a date line as there lists are full :/ what does this mean as they say we want to deliver at 38 weeks

Will I need to wait for a call on off chance or do I need to wait to see if natural if can't fit me in I have been on iron tablets
I have had povo
Baby had a ectopic bowel scans every 2 weeks from 24 weeks till 35 weeks
Test are been done on bay when born cord bone marrow etc
And I have extra fluid now been tested for diabetes

And been a high risk pregnancy just very confusing in what need to do as everyone seems to have dates and iv had a week slot on off chance I might get a date but been a stress head all way I don't no what to do 🤔 x

It's likely there will be a cancellation of a booked section between those dates and you will be offered that date.

Good luck. I had a planned section with my second and it was amazing!

Having experienced a range of treatments in two pregnancies, I recommend a planned section so pack your bag, hold your nerve and accept when they offer - that way it'll still be a surprise!

good luck!

Thank you just panicking because there was no dates available and with all the issues and stress of saying 38 weeks I don't know what was going to happen if one wasn't available by that time 😔

And thank you for saying u had good experience with a section as everyone who spoke to said they had bad experience with them and would never do it again so bit of reassurance iv had 2 natural and thought of having a section terrified me but peoples feed back wasn't best but I no I need to do it for little one and myself 🤕

A planned c section is great, people who have had bad experiences generally have had an emergency one (when they were already half way through labour and it isn’t going well)

im generalising here but that’s basically it. I had one 3 years ago and it was really great. Obviously it’s no walk in the park, you need time to recover after but I’ve had no second thoughts about doing it again this time. Good luck x

I had my baby via planned section at 37 and 5. I declined the steroid injections. He was perfectly fine. Have a read of the new research around the steroid injections and make an informed choice x

I had a section at 36 weeks due to various factors. We did take the steroids due to the (slight but relevant) prematurity but my understanding is the benefits of the steroids are less clear after 37 weeks.

All the best. My experience in theatre was very positive and the recovery fine too with time, rest and regular pain killers.

I did read that they were less affecting after 37 weeks what I am over now and can cause low blood sugars just don't no what to do for the best :( im due in to have my first one tomorrow and having ctg monitors every day for 20 mins at hospital for next 4 days just feels a bit much seen as scans was every week for dopler they said was fine and growth scans every 2 weeks so hard understand I am a stress head when comes to things and I don't no how I'm going to be having the section I just think I'm going to go into panic mode x
