When did I most likely conceive with an October 30 due date ?
my first scan was april 8 and it dated me 11 weeks.
im asking so late as something bad happened to me early January(8th) and the last time I remember me and my partner having sex was last week of January through to first week of February …and as the due date is getting closer im getting more paranoid about dates and I really need some reassurance , im not sleeping im not eating it’s just stressing me out !

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way and I hope you have support for what happened to you. I’d say you conceived around 5th Feb.
11 weeks was from the first day of your last period so you aren’t pregnant until around 2 weeks after that which works out the first week of February. Hope this puts your mind at ease. Sending lots of love and positivity your way xxx

I’ve just had mine he was due 14th oct and conceived 22nd jan. This may help you with dates being similar time frame 🙂

  1. Human pregnancy lasts for around 40 weeks that 280 days.

. . but some can be up to 42 weeks.

https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/week-by-week/28-to-40-plus/40-weeks/

  1. Just by using a calendar and counting back from October 30th , 40 weeks is January 24th.

Good luck - and try not to worry. x

Just wanted to clarify this is correct information, but the wording could be misinterpreted by an anxious OP.

The 40 weeks (or 280 days) starte on the first day the period begins (1st day of the bleed) so the OP is very likely to have conceived the first week of February which matches up to when she had sex with her partner

yes some pregnancies can last 42 weeks but that would take her past October the 30th into November.
x

ButtercupBeans · 24/10/2024 01:28

It doesn't necessarily take her into November.

Assuming her October 30 due date is correct.

Counting back from her expected due date of October 30th:

40 weeks = 24th January

41 weeks = 17th January

42 weeks = 10th January

So assuming baby arrives on October 30th, she could have become pregnant most likely any time from around 10th January to 24th January.

But it it is a regular normal 40 week pregnancy,, most likely around 24th January

The scan said 11weeks on April 8th though not 13 weeks?

And as already mentioned above- 2 weeks of that is a week of having a period where it’s almost impossible to get pregnant and then ovulation week.
there’s no way she could have conceived before the last days of January/first week of February?
some people go 2 weeks PAST their due date but not 2 weeks before the date the conceived?
I feel like your wording this in a way that’s going to make the OP worry, i know you are trying to help but please stop saying she could’ve conceived anytime from the 10th January as that doesn’t match up to the scans or due date and it’s not possible to start adding on the 2 weeks she may go overdue onto the start of the pregnancy before her period even began.

scans are very accurate and after having 3 children myself and knowing exactly when my last period was and also when ovulation occurred I can confirm this from my own 3 experiences.

really hope you’re ok OP xxx

  1. Sorry to press this point - but Purplepimple20 says:

"something bad happened to me early January (8th)."

and she is really concerned and stressed out about what time she actually conceived.

  1. The last 8 days of January = January 24th to January 31th.

So if her and her partner had sex on night of 24th into 25th baby could have been conceived then - and baby is a regular 40 week pregnancy.

  1. . All test, all scans are not 100% accurate - they are effectively a best guess and need some interpreting.

eg. SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC - Someone I know, NHS scans and tests all suggested that she was going to have twins - but when she gave birth a few months ago - she had triplets. Baby 3 was hiding - the medics did not pick it up - until it arrived. It doesn't happen often but it did just

Lets just hope that mum has a less stressful time in the next days and and a happy delivery.

so technically the latest I could have concieved would be 11weeks from my scan date if weird ovulation etc happened ?
I also did a clear blue test on February I’m not sure of the date I know it was around the 20th February and it said 2-3 .
it’s just a really hard time atm I’ve been booked in for a c section tomorrow :(
and I know it’s bad but I haven’t even told my partner what happened to me as I just don’t feel ready . Also what makes it worse is the guy that did what he did is of a different race that’s why I’m freaking out so much as it’s going to cause a massive problem if it were to go the other way tomorrow and I’m so scared of putting my partner through that :(

April 8th minus 11 weeks = January 22nd

So an approximately 40 week pregnancy fits in with your original due date of around October 30.

So conception on that day or 5 days before is most likely ?

11 weeks back from April 8th should mark the first day of your last period before getting pregnant. You would’ve ovulated around 10 days after the first day of your period so working on that you got pregnant around Feb 1st.

here’s the NHS guidance that will explain it properly.

im not sure where the other poster is getting their information from as the facts are all here in this link. And yes although nhs scans sometimes miss babies hiding in there they are very accurate at dating, especially at earlier weeks when the baby is growing so fast. also im presuming you will have had other scans since then to verify the stage of pregnancy.

https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/week-by-week/1-to-12/1-2-3-weeks/

I would say it’s pretty much impossible that you conceived from the awful thing that happened to you and I really do wish you the best and hope that one day you can get some help and support in coming to terms with what happened.

you will be prioritised for talking therapy with having a new baby too so please do consider reaching out to your midwives, health visitor or doctors. It’s all confidential too so unless you were ready to talk, then your partner wouldn’t need to find out but I think having someone to talk to would really help 💜

sending lots of love to you OP xxx

So the scan is dating me from estimated lmp ? As I don’t know when my period was as they are always irregular . I’m honestly so depressed knowing my c section is tomorrow and could potentially be the end of the only decent relationship I’ve ever had :(

Hello at the scan they've measured the baby as the size that would be expected if you conceived around the 1st February they just work out based on the average cycle length as they can’t be sure what day you conceived as everyone’s slightly different. That along with the clear blue conception indicator should hopefully put your mind at rest xxx

DD was due October 30th. Definitely conceived from DTD in the first week of February.

If all your scans have been consistent with October 30th due date (the earliest one at 11 weeks is the most reliable) then it’s not possible to have been from early Jan. Sperm won’t survive more than 7 days.

Over all the anxiety, I hope you can enjoy some excitement for meeting your baby x

Yeah my first scan was April 8 dating me 10 and 6 and my second was April 22 dating me 12 and 6
my growth scans the head measured 2 weeks ahead but apparently that’s normal ?

OP posts:
Emmzo · 24/10/2024 19:36

The early scans are most accurate, the first 12 weeks all babies grow roughly the same and the crown to rump measurement is pretty accurate. You’ve had 2 scans around that time which both gave October 30th so I’d feel comfortable with that.

Later on, limbs, head, abdominal circumference all grow at different rates where genetics starts to play a part. DD had legs measuring on 99th centile but everything else around 50th. Her dad is 6ft 8 so it’s hardly a surprise… so if your later scans have showed head circumference on a higher centile, it means nothing for your due date. Just that baby’s head is measuring slightly bigger than average (but within normal range!). Although don’t be worrying about whether you/your partner’s head is big and whether that means anything, everything grows at different rates with each baby, they’re individuals after all! x
