Bleeding at 5 1/2 weeks

Hi,

I'm 5 1/2 pregnant (had a MMC about 3 months ago). I woke up this morning feeling a bit light headed so had something to eat straight away.
I then went to work (teacher in the last week of this half term). However at lunch time I had some period like cramps and went to the toilet and when I wiped there was blood. I called the emergency gynae at the hospital and they said if it gets heavier or there's clots to get in touch but because it's less than 6 weeks they wouldn't scan.
I came home around 2.30 and there was more blood but not heavier.
I've had no more cramps and no more blood 3 hours later.
I'm just wondering what's happening.
Has anyone had any similar experiences? Particularly positive would help but I'm also realistic this may not be positive - also wondered how often the cramps were if you did miscarry?
Thanks

Sorry this is happening @Aquacoast9. Bleeding during pregnancy is always unsettling.

I think it’s a good thing that it’s on wiping, not filling a pad. I had some bleeding during my pregnancy, and was told that as long as it was less than a teaspoon it was ok.

Is it bright red blood? Hopefully it’s implantation bleeding.

My mum bleed all through being oregnant as did my nan, and my cousin and I had periods, so everyone is different. Wait to see wot the specialists say.

Hi @Ariadne08,

Thank you for your reply 🙂.

I was nervous to go to the loo just then but when I went there was nothing on my pad, when I wiped there was the tiniest bit (sorry to be graphic).

It was just such a shock at lunchtime and for the couple of hours after (as there was more) but for a few hours there's been nothing and no cramps.

Guess will have to see how the next 24hrs go.

Thank you for letting me know your experience and the info about the teaspoon amount. 🙂

Thank you @Skybluepinky 🙂

It's always useful to know about other people's experiences.

You're right I'll wait and see what the specialists say.

Fingers crossed it stops now @Aquacoast9. On the day I found out I was pregnant, I had a splodge of blood followed by a few days of brown discharge which gradually lightened to clear. I had random spotting throughout. Everyone is different.

Rest up and take it easy if you can! ❤️

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for your replies and for sharing your experiences.

I've been for my scan today and they said I need to go back in 2 weeks as I wasn't as far along as they thought I should have been.

My cycles have been slightly longer since my last miscarriage so not sure on dates exactly.

They kind of said it's not looking hopeful but there is a small possibility they might see something in 2 weeks. They saw a sack today but not much else (at least I think that's what they said, bit of a blur).

I'm trying to be realistic.

Just plan to distract myself for the next two weeks.

Thanks again for your lovely responses.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I have heard stories of women having bleeding throughout the first trimester and then carrying a healthy pregnancy with a healthy baby at the end.

For me, bleeding like this has meant miscarriage unfortunately. The cramps were not very bad at all, but that is just my experience. It was not especially painful, just like a period.
