Hi all,

I'm 16 weeks 5 days pregnant and found out at 15 weeks I'm having a boy!!

Baby boy was moving on the scan etc and healthy

I've heard by now I should feel flutters or feel baby move by now.

I'm unsure if I ivave because I've been experiencing cramps also so I'm unsure if I've had flutters sometimes I feel a prickly sensation.

My question is should I feel something by now and what are others experiences around this time.

Worried as I previously had a MMC.

Thank you in advance ☺️

Honestly don’t worry at all! 16 weeks is the absolute earliest that they typically say you can feel movement, with your first baby it’s usually around 20 weeks. My daughter is 6 months old now, my first baby, and I never felt her until about 20 weeks x

PP is correct this is the earliest time possible, but most people feel later

Do you know your placenta position? If it's at the front it might be even later as it cushions the kicks.

16 weeks is super early!

In my first pregnancy, I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel anything at all till 22/23 weeks despite baby being extremely active at every scan. The average for a first pregnancy is normally around 20 weeks but anything up to 24/25 weeks is still considered normal.

This time round my placenta is at the back. I'm now 17+3 and no flutters yet. You normally feel movements earlier with subsequent pregnancies so I'm hoping I'll start to feel something in the next week or 2.

Agree with PP, 16 weeks is super early, especially for your first. My first I probably started feeling movement around 22w, and with this one from about 18/19w. Both times with anterior placenta.

With my first it was anterior placenta and it was around 21/22 weeks.

No idea where my placenta is but I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and haven't felt anything as far as I know. My midwife told me between 18-24 weeks is normal so I've got a while before I start worrying.
