Sharp abdominal cramps in week 8

Hey,

I’m 8wks 1day today. This is a pregnancy after loss and I’m really struggling with the uncertainty. I’ve had some early scans that have gone ok apart from a bleed (showing on the scan) that the sonographer said was implantation bleeding and common. My new worry is that I’m experiencing sharp cramps either side of my abdomen that feels like stretching. They aren’t constant but have been on off today and yesterday. I’ve had no bleeding. Has anyone else experienced this? I still have sore breasts, tiredness and nausea. I’d take those symptoms any day over these cramps that are causing me worry. I have another scan booked in to check on the bleed in 2 weeks. Thanks.

Mild cramping is normal, it's ligaments stretching. If it becomes more intense or with bleeding then seek medical advice, but from what you are you are saying, I think what you have is normal. Congratulations x

It's called round ligament pain and it's totally normally.

Thanks so much. It’s the sharpness of it that was worrying me but after looking up ligament pain, it sounds right. It’s gone today. Pregnancy is so mad, every day is completely different. Once I get used to one symptom, it goes away for a while and replaced with something new and unfamiliar. Thanks again.

You are so right about how random pregnancy can be with symptoms coming and going and new ones appearing every week!
And it's not even the same with every pregnancy. I'm 17 weeks with my second and this pregnancy has been completely different to my first in every way (both girls).
I get round ligament pain quite regularly and it cam be very sharp and unexpected. Definitely a worry the first few times you feel it
