Ectopic Or Constipation?

I'm currently 4weeks 2days after first IVF round, ever since I got my BFP I've had excrutiating cramps if I strain at all on the loo, or even just sit there for more than a few minutes. Bad enough that I just have to lie curled up in a ball for twenty minutes until they pass.

I rang my consultant last week and they said it sounded very odd, but to try laxatives. Even so, the same thing has happened again today.

Has anyone else had this?? I'm worried it could be ectopic after so many years trying, but this is my only symptom 😓

I had horrendous constipation after my first successful ivf - I had to take lactulose and that really helped. Weirdly I’ve just had another successful round and so far having the opposite problem 😳 I wonder if the cramps could just be referred pain from the pelvic floor straining, with all the extra hormones making things cramp?

Congratulations on your BFP, OP 💐 I'd try speaking to the Early Pregnancy Unit at your local hospital. They may well want to see you, and hopefully they can give you some reassurance.

I had bad cramps for a little while from around 4/5 weeks with my first. I remember during a visit to family I was wondering if I'd have to track down the nearest A&E as the pain was so sharp.

When it carried on I spoke to our EPU and they asked me to come in on the basis that any strong/continued pain needs to be investigated. I had a scan and all looked normal with baby. They concluded (and I read in a few other places) that it was digestive pain from the hormonal changes.

Sure enough it suddenly eased off a few weeks later. I hope it passes for you soon and the rest of your pregnancy goes well.
