Morning after pill fail?

Hi,

so my partner and I want another baby but holding off until next year. We had a drunken night recently and condom split (didn’t know until after). It was about 4/5days before I was due to ovulate but I’d weirdly had some ovulation symptoms earlier than I’d expect so we agreed I’d take the morning after pill. We had sex the Friday night, I took it the Sunday lunchtime. About a week later I had some brownish discharge and mild sharp pains; thought maybe the pill had thrown my cycle and was coming on but nothing happened. Another week has passed and I’m not yet due on a period but I keep feeling like my period is coming (but it’s just discharge which has had a tinge of pink at some points) and have some twinges and aches but nothing like period pains. My boobs are a bit sore.
is it likely the pill has just thrown everything off or is there chance I ovulated early and I could actually be pregnant?

not had much experience with the morning after pill so thought I’d ask!

thanks

My 3rd child was born after the morning after pill. Entirely possible to be pregnant, it is not 100% effective.

The morning after pill works by delaying ovulation if you had already ovulated the most common pills don't work. I think there is one that doesn't buy not 100% sure. The coil is the most appropriate emergency contraception if you are at the middle of your cycle. I think it's awful that this is communicated more widely because if you are around the time you ovulated there is a reasonable chance the map won't do what you want and it's the time in your cycle you need it the most.
Unfortunately you will only know if you test. At 2 weeks since unprotected sex this would be the equivalent for when your period would be due had you ovulated at that time so you should get a positive test.

I got pregnant after taking the morning after pill. Worth taking a test X

Thanks everyone! I did actually end up having some bleeding after posting this that I put down to period, however I’m now having a bit of nausea and pin prick pains in my womb that I recognise from early pregnancy so I might do a test to check. Reckon I’m not pregnant but for peace of mind. Thanks again!

Hi can I ask what the outcome was please? I'm in a similar panic right now ☹️
