Think my due date is wrong

Hey all,

First thread here! Just wondering if anyone could try and help me work out how many weeks pregnant I am, please?

So, I was testing every 2nd day. My last negative was on 17th September and first positive on 19th September. I waited a couple of weeks to phone up thinking that I was around 6 weeks by that point (2nd Oct), to be told that I was only just 4 weeks pregnant on that date. The lady gave me an EDD of 10/06/2025.

Right now 19th October I think I am just over 8 weeks pregnant, but according to NHS I am only 6+4.

What's everyone's thoughts? I know it doesn't really matter as when I have my scan it will get corrected then, but I have been out of my mind wondering how far I am since that initial phone call on 2nd Oct.

Thank you ladies in advance for any comments :)

When was your last period?

Adamsapple89 · 19/10/2024 19:00

It’s based on the first day of your last period so go
off that

YouveGotAFastCar · 19/10/2024 19:02

It’s based off LMP until you have your 12 week scan, and then it’s based on that, even if it’s obvious it’s not entirely right down the line.

Really try not to stress about it or you’ll drive yourself mad.

Hi all,

Thank you for the replies!

Sorry, I really should have said about the period part lol. I had a coil fitted but had that taken out on 14th August to try for this baby. I bled 2 days after that for around 4ish days, but that is all I have had before then receiving the positive test.

Hope all that makes sense :)

Assuming your first positive was 10dpo (best guess without knowing what type of test and time of day you took it), then you ovulated on 9th September. To date the pregnancy you count ovulation day as CD14, so the date of your LMP would be 27th August. That makes you 7+4.

Pyroleus · 19/10/2024 19:22

PS so long as your dating scan is between 11 and 14 weeks it doesn't matter. They'll give you a new date then anyway. So I would only bring it up if the date they give you for your scan means that it falls outwith 11-14 weeks using the method I gave you above.

Thank you! According to your calculations, my scan would be in the middle of my 13th week, so hopefully all good.

I have an early scan tomorrow, if I am 7+4, would they be able to detect everything okay that early on? Heartbeat etc. Thanks again!

It's all just guess work and averages until you actually have a scan and measurements are taken.
Good luck with your scan tomorrow, yes, if you really are over 7 weeks then you should be able to see everything including a heartbeat.
