Im a teacher and one of the children this week has been diagnosed with hand foot and mouth. The child’s siblings had it early last week and I’m pretty sure I’ve got it! I have a mild rash on my hands which is quite sore and a few blisters on my feet I’m 29 weeks pregnant + 6 days. I’m worrying sick the midwife said not to worry as it rarely affects baby but I had two previous early miscarriages abd I’m terrified of anything bad happening again. On researching I’ve heard some horror stories but then some people who have said it’s all fine. Phoned Drs who seemed concerned but only offered a blood test next week which I don’t know what that would mean as i already have the rash. Super stressed does anyone have any advice or previous experience. Im terrified of anything happening to baby im not sure I could go through anything this late on.

My DD had this while I was about seven weeks pregnant. I remember reading it's more a worry if you get a fever when pregnant, otherwise it's relatively benign. I'm sure you'll be fine, hope you feel much better very soon! :-)

There's no need to worry, it's not an illness that poses any risk to pregnant women. Try and thinking logically about how many pregnant women who already have a child get exposed to it each winter due to childcare/school for the elder - hopefully that might be reassuring.
