8 weeks pregnant, no baby on scan

just wondering if any other mums have been in or are in similar situation

i had a positive pregnancy test almost 2 weeks ago. One of the tests was a clear blue and said (3+weeks) and when I looked this up it said at least 5 weeks pregnant.

the first day of my last period was 25/08/24 and according to my flo app this would bring me to be 7 weeks 6 days pregnant

I went for a private scan today and all that could be seen was a yolk sac and a baby sac but no baby

the lady doing the scan said maybe your dates are out - but if I have them written down can this be out? I’m now booked in for next week to see if this has progressed but I’m going out my mind with worry.

this was an external scan so as I’ve had a child before the lady says I have a tilted uterus, could this be why we can’t see anything? I’m going to contact my early pregnancy unit on Monday to hopefully get an early internal scan booked in but as it’s Friday I will be going out my mind with worry.

anyone have any success stories ?

Do you know when you ovulated? If not then it’s possible you ovulated late in your cycle which could mean that the dates are slightly out so you may not be as far along as you think you are?

Was it an internal scan; or abdominal only?

It’s unlikely to be due to your uterus - I have the same and it’s never been an issue. Google suggests it doesn’t affect scans, too. Plus they could see things - just not the baby.

Is there any chance you’re less pregnant than you think? The Clearblue weeks predictors are not at all accurate.

The lady doing the scan doesn't mean your period dates, she means the date you ovulated.
Lots of ladies have longer than average cycles and/or ovulate late which would make the date from your last period inaccurate.

I would have been 7+6 (from LMP) when I had my first scan but my baby only measured 6+1 as I had ovulated late that month.
I'm now 17 weeks pregnant and baby is absolutely fine but still measuring consistently 12 days less than what LMP date would put me at.

It was an abdominal scan, thank you I feel more reassured that I may have ovulated later in my cycle. As this baby was a surprise I wasn’t tracking ovulation so I’ve not any idea when I ovulated
