Low iron, 30 weeks pregnant

Currently 30 weeks pregnant and my blood test from a week ago showed my ferritin level as 3 and hb at 91. I've been feeling exhausted, lightheaded and dizzy. Doctor said I could have an iron transfusion but I'm quite hesitant and scared.

Also had a hemorrhage after giving birth last time and lost quite a bit of blood so I need my levels to be high. Anybody had iron transfusion or been able to raise their levels with just medication?

Nothing to be scared of. You'll be fine.

I've been anaemic in all of my pregnancies and needed iron transfusions after both births, as well as a blood transfusion after the first one due to blood loss. Honestly if they are offering it to you take it! You will hopefully feel so much better for it.
I'm currently taking iron tablets but still have low ferritin unfortunately.

It's the best way to get it into you. I'd be well happy with that. People pay for that! I hope you feel better soon.

Definitely take the transfusion
