Olivia - I'm very pleased for you - we've had ours for a few weeks and can't hear anything, I have kind of given up.

How far along are you??

oliviaelanasmum · 24/04/2008 07:56

I think im about 13 weeks but not sure of dates so my scan today will confirm edd.

Good luck with your scan Olivia - make sure you let us know how it goes! If you haven't already done so why not join us on the November Antenatal thread:

That's lovely - I remember getting my first success with the doppler

Good luck to the others with dopplers. There are a couple of old threads with good tips for finding the heartbeat.

I tended to start about 2-3 fingers below the tummy button, pointing downwards, then slowly moving around like a torch, until I got the 'whoosh' ofthe placenta, and baby was never too far away. It is easy to distinguish from yuor own pulse as it is so much faster.

Lovely news - I thought "hb" was going to stand for home birth lol and was wondering where you lived to be close to so many women giving birth at home...

i have just bought one of those am going to try it tonight for the first time
hopefully i can hear something any tips on where to start im 27 weeks

TheCrazyAngel · 24/04/2008 17:01

I heard my babys heartbeat for the first time yesterday with the midwife at 17weeks exactly and i was convinced it sounded more like the Tardis from Doctor who...

And she was laughing and told me soon it will sound more like a galloping horse from next month or so..
So i guess thats what to listen out for lol..

But she found it straightaway about 2-3 inches below my navel...

Good luck
