I didn't have to with either of mine - it was only with the 12 week scan I needed to.

HeadFairy · 23/04/2008 20:14

depends on the ultrasound machine they've got, some of them you need to drink beforehand some of them you don't. I didn't for mine.

You shouldn't have to. Your uterus will be sufficiently pushed forward at this point.

biglips · 23/04/2008 20:33

ok thanks as thats what i thought about my uterus should be pushed out by now which it is.

My 20 week scan is next week and my letter from the hospital has asked me to drink 1.5 LITRES!!! of water an hour beforehand! I hope they're not running late....

belgo · 24/04/2008 08:57

I've had scans at 8, 12, 20 and 30 weeks and have never ever had to drink water before hand. Never any problem with the scan being carried out.

looneytune · 24/04/2008 10:26

I've never had to either. The only thing I did have to do once is go to the toilet as I was too full! This was 5 years ago with ds's 20 weeks scan.

Good luck today

I needed full bladder for all my scans, even at 28, 32 and 36 weeks (having twins so lots of scans). They say the further on you are the less it is important but def full bladder for 20 weeks
