Hi,
I am 6+2 days and on sunday had some bleeding. Rushed to the hospital and luckily everything was fine (cervix was closed and bloods were normal) but since then have been experiencing slight spotting.

I've read on the internet that it is common and providing there is no pain then things should go smoothly. Has anyone else had similar experiences...would be reassuring to know I'm not alone!! 7+ week scan is next week so am pretty nervous..any advice/words of wisdom would be appreciated!

Terrifying isn't it?

I bled at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks and a heavy bleed at 12 weeks (morning of my 12 week scan ).

I'm now 31 weeks.

I had no pain with any of the bleeding and it was all unexplained. My IVF consultant said pg was a "very vascular process" and some women are prone to bleeding for no reason.

I won't tell you not to worry cos everyone told me that and I just wanted to punch them . Try and take it easy and rest as much as you can.

Good luck.

It's not normal, in the sense that it's a standard part of pregnancy, but it is common.

I spotted in my first pregnancy and eventually discovered I'd had a missed miscarriage. I didn't bleed in my second pregnancy. I am 17 weeks into my 3rd pregnancy, and have had a couple of bits of bleeding, but afaik everything is still fine.

Afraid that only time will tell for you, and nothing anyone says will stop you from worrying, but best of luck.

I bled at 6 weeks, 8 weeks and 21 weeks (right after the scan)and remembering desperately looking on mumsnet to see if it was common. Certainly appears to be as there were loads of threads on it. All the doctors etc said was common too.
Try not to worry (not easy). DD is now 9 months so everything was fine.

I spotted brown blood between 4.5 and 7 weeks, once waking up in the middle of the night to find red blood. I had a scan when the spotting started, and then a scan two weeks later to check the baby had grown. All was well and I'm now 18 weeks.

The time i was bleeding was very worrying for me, at one point I was convinced it was a MC, lots of 'bits' coming out, waves of mild cramps - but was confused that it hadn't got heavier and that I was beginning to get MS.

Looking back I think I had quite a little burrower during implantation. I'd tested with a hpt really early as I'd experienced painful period-like cramps (implantation cramps) earlier than usual. This must have caused some bleeding which then didn't come out till a week later, and then took over two weeks to come out.

All you can do is think positive thoughts, wait for that next scan and know that a lot of us have been through the same thing. Since that second scan at 7 weeks I have been thoroughly relaxed throughout this pg, hopefully you will be too! Best of luck momo.

Another bleeder here - I bled at five weeks for a week and I've had two miscarriages so I was really scared, but I'm 25 weeks pregnant now and all is well.

I had spotting at five weeks, but I have a good friend who bled quite a lot all the way through-baby is my forty four year old friend!Know of plenty of others who bled occasionally ,I think it is really common.Try not to worry unless the bleeding is heavy, bright red and combined with cramps.

hi i had a lot of bleeding between 11.6 days and around 14 weeks or so.. most awful time, just cried and cried. Lovely DS1 now aged 2.7 yrs. With DS2 no bleeding - now, I won't tell you not to worry either, because you will but hope all is well, you will find masses of support and experience here!

Thanks ladies!

You've all been pretty reassuring. None of my friends experienced bleeding with their pgs so Ive been very tense this week. Will try not to worry too much now..thankfully no cramps/pain...just pinkish spotting for 4 consecutive days now...

Thanks again and best of luck with all your deliveries!! xx

Hiya,

I bled a bit at 6, 8 and 12 weeks. Some of it browny colour. had it checked out each time and no worries at all.
Had some cramping with it too.
It is very scary but try not to worry too much.
They never gave me a reason for it but we suspected that it could have been around the time that my period was due.

It doenst have to mean something dreadful.
Stay calm and if it helps get it checked out everytime.
If you have the cash buy a doppler so you can listen for the heart beat to reassure yourself
x

something that my mother did whenever she bled heavily during pregnancy-- she drank coconut water. she's an ob herself, and she swears by it.

Momo24 · 25/04/2008 09:50

Ahh that must be it! My period would have been due this week so hopefully thats it. Went to the gp but she wasnt too interested- a good thing I guess.

Coconut water? Might as well give that a try. Thanks eandz.

I bled with ds1 at 7 weeks and he is now almost 7! No bleeding/spotting with ds2, but an area of blood in the uterus was detected at my 6 week scan and I was told it would either come out, or it would be reabsorbed. I am now 12/13 weeks pregnant, and was having a grand old time until last saturday when I spotted brown. It soon went away, but came back Wednesday evening. I had my dating scan yesterday and baby is absolutely fine, meauring at 13 weeks and once again, there is a small area of blood that could be seen, looks like it is coming out this time. It is very nerve wracking, but is more common than you think. When you are further along, I second the use of a doppler (rent or buy), it is very reasurring for me, especially over the weekends when the EPU is closed and the midwives can't be got hold of.

eandz · 25/04/2008 14:03

i just ordered a doppler for £20 on ebay.

Hi so I came on my period this month regular 28 day cycle, did the baby dance and five days later I came on 7th day today I’m still bleeding. Impossible to be pregnant coz I only had five days no bleed. How we something inside me told me to take a test today I took a test and this is what came up, looks positive but I’m very scared as it might be false or ectopic anyone else has this experience and had a healthy baby
