would you recommend a double pram (travel system or just a double stroller?)
or do I need one? My LO will be 21 months old when baby No. 2 comes
my LO is on the 98th centile and a lot of double strollers I see are up to 15kg and she’s 12.3kg already at 16months
TY!😁

I had the same age gap. We used a double buggy . It was perfect. I think my youngest also used the pram at times.

TickingAlongNicely · 14/10/2024 21:08

Depends on your lifestyle. We only used the double about 10-15 times. Most if the time used a mixture of baby carrier and buggy board... elder DD was a bit of a Duracell toddler, just kept on and on and on. Happily walked the mile home from nursery for example!

If you rely on the pram a lot, it might be more useful.

Depends on your lifestyle like someone else said. I had 2 that were 22 months apart and didn't bother as my eldest loved walking.

Same age gap here, my boys had a travel system for about 2 weeks I hated it it was a nightmare for me getting all the different parts out the car every time we needed to go anywhere. I eventually got the joie twin air stroller and it’s amazing and so easy to use

FlyingontheGround · 14/10/2024 21:12

My DC are the same age gap, I had a double buggy, didn’t use it for very long but probably couldn’t have managed to get very far without it in the early days.

Scutterbug · 14/10/2024 21:13

My first two were 15 months apart. We did have a double buggy but only used it a few times as my dd preferred to walk.

PurBal · 14/10/2024 21:16

23 months and never used a double. Carrier all the way! Definitely depends on your lifestyle though.

HiCandles · 14/10/2024 21:17

I have a 20 month gap. Double buggy is used daily here. Toddler can't walk 30 mins to playgroup and home again later. Plus we'd never get anywhere at his pace! He also naps in it sometimes at the same time as baby which is just blissful for me.
I have out and about double nipper. Weight limit up to 22kg. My toddler is also heavy and this was one of my key considerations. It's amazing. So easy to push one handed, as often happened in early months of baby wanting sling fed as we went. Fits through normal doors and on buses. Folds in one easy movement. I didn't get it until 3 months in as wasn't sure if I needed one, I just used single for toddler and had baby in stretchy wrap. It depends how long your regular walks are as to whether you need a double IMO.

FlyingontheGround · 14/10/2024 21:18

I had the same buggy as @HiCandles I also found it really good.

TheSmallAssassin · 14/10/2024 21:24

Ours are nearly 20 months apart, we had a Phil and Ted's tandem buggy (this was 20 years ago, mind!) which was great when taking them both out, especially on the bus and round the shops. We used our original buggy if it was just the baby, and eventually put a buggy board on that when they were a bit older and we had to do the school run.

Mygreyhair · 14/10/2024 21:25

I had a 22 month gap, followed by an 18 month gap. Never needed a double as each older child was an incredible walker. My advice would be to wait until just before baby is born to purchase anything, as it will clear by then what sort of toddler you have!
Congratulations - I really enjoyed having babies close in age.

Pringlebeak · 14/10/2024 21:31

Same age difference here. We alternated between double buggy and single travel system (which we had already from DC1) with buggy board.

Thumberline · 14/10/2024 21:36

I also had a 22 month age gap, we had a Nuna Demi grow that converts from a double to a single. My toddler loved being able to climb in and out of it. Saying that my youngest hated the pram until she was six months and could go in the sitting up bit so spent hours a day in the sling.

biscuitcat · 14/10/2024 21:37

Same age gap between my two - we used a combination of double/single and carrier/carrier and toddler walking depending on what we were doing. I prefer when I just have the single but also wouldn't be without the double as sometimes toddler pace just isn't quick enough. And it's also sometimes useful to be able to have both kids strapped down so no one can run off!

Posithor · 14/10/2024 21:50

2 years 3m between mine and I LOVED my nipper 360 ☺️

2 under 2 is the best thing I’ve ever done. Yes it’s hard but it’s so so worth it. We had an Out and About double nipper and it’s been used more than any other pram we own (&I always quite liked a baby carrier). I didn’t think we’d need a double which I afterwards decided was a bit naive of me and quickly ordered one after our 2nd arrived (we used a newborn insert too)
