Pregnancy of unknown location

Hi, I had a small amount of bleeding when wiping after going to the toilet so was sent for an early scan. I am just over 6 weeks pregnant. On the scan the sack was empty and there were no signs of ectopic pregnancy. I had my bloods two days ago and my HCG level was 5283. I had my bloods today and my HCG level is now 4580. The midwife said if it decreased over 50% then it would be a miscarriage but it’s not decreased by that much yet and I’m left in the dark as to what is happening. Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation?

@Jess2024
So sorry your going through similar thing sending hugs 🫂

Hiya hun, I'm in similar situation i got told I had a pregnancy of unknown location nothing to been seen anywhere i also started spotting which has continued since 19th April my hcg levels were 225,298,390 this week I'm supposed to be 8 weeks, so before methotrexate they did a blood test to measure hcg they rang me next day saying my hcg has decreased by 51% over 9 days so consultant said to just monitor bloods hcg weekly..

Is this a good thing 🤔 I just want everything over random done with now instead I'm living each day scared.

Unfortunately I think both of you need to prepare for the worst outcome.
The first trimester is when your hcg should be almost doubling every 48 hours until you hit the second trimester when it starts decreasing
It can take almost a month sometimes for hcg to drop enough for your body to naturally mc.
@Lisaaustin90 I had similar spotting from week 6 and a half in my prior pregnancy, which continued for two and a half weeks just once or twice a day until I had a scan to confirm baby didn't grow past 7 weeks
I then started properly mc at just over 9 weeks and then it took a further 3 weeks once passing baby for my hcg to go completely.

If you both haven't seen evidence of a growing baby plus decreasing hcg it doesn't look good.
Have you both got scans booked again to double check any progress?
So sorry youre both having to deal with this, it's devastating to go through x

@LaTable
Thank you for your message hun, my last scan was when I was supposed to be 6 weeks but couldn't find anything anywhere but hcg was slowly rising since then I've been spotting all way the way through with cramping sometimes painful cramps when they come, they are not constant..

I had something like that which was an unviable pregnancy unfortunately. The sack formed but no proper pregnancy developed in it.

@dogcatkitten
Thank you for your message,

Doctor said the pregnancy doesn't look a viable one with how my hcg wasn't right for gestational age and hcg was slowly rising not by much now suddenly hcg has dropped 51% over 9 days I'm hoping this is a sign my body is doing what it needs to.. I've been so scared of a rupture..

Did you get spotting and really painful cramps?
