My hospital said they have no availability for an elective c section until past my due date .
we have tried 2 other hospitals but they are in the same situation too.
im absolutely terrified as I ended up having an emergency section with my last pregnancy due to baby girl being too big , so me and the consultant agreed that a c section would be better for my mental health after a traumatic birth and said it would be booked at 39 weeks however my last consultant appointment she rang the theatre booking and they told us that we would not be seen till after 40 weeks as they have no availability.
what happens if I go into labour before hand ? The consultant didn’t pass much comment when I asked this and just kept apologising for the lack of dates .
im at wythenshawe hospital if anyone is also going through this .

If you go into labour you’ll get a section.

Can you transfer to another hospital a bit further away? So sorry you’re going through this, not ideal at all. Hope it all goes well x

I think it might be worth getting difficult. Tell them you don’t feel it’s safe and you want it noted on your record that the patient has said they don’t feel it’s safe. Also put it in writing via email and hard copy letter. Push for an earlier date. I’m so sorry x

Also may be worth contacting your MP

I am really sorry you’re going through this. What an awful experience right at the end of your pregnancy. I agree with the others to try and push for a date earlier.

However… I had a c section with my first at 40+3 and it was such a positive experience. This time (I’m 29 weeks) I am having a section around my due date again. I saw the consultant and have spoken to my midwife about what would happen if I went into labour earlier. They both said to phone the labour ward and let them know. Depending on the time of day and as long as everything is progressing ok they would likely book me in for an ‘emergency’ section with normal working hours. Eg if I went into labour in the middle of the night I would come in for a section first thing in the morning. (which I am happy about btw)

The only thing the consultant told me to think about was if I came in 5-6cm dilated I could try for a vbac as I would be progressing well and it’s a question that would be asked when I came in. She said it’s worth thinking about the answer while I’m NOT in labour.

I really hope you get your earlier date and you have a healthy happy baby. Xx
