Pregnant 10 months after C section

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant again with my 2nd (yay!)

I’m so excited, but slightly worried as

  1. I had an emergency c-section 10 months ago and the scar still “pulls” sometimes (if that makes sense?). I’m not sure if I need someone to check the scar and tell me this is safe.
  2. I’m still breastfeeding my 10mo daughter during the day. Thankfully we have night weaned, but she is still wanting to feed A LOT during the day. Again, not sure if this puts me at any risk.

Im not sure if this is a conversation I should have with a GP or health visitor or wait until I see the midwife,

would love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position? And whether I’m worrying over nothing

After my emergency C-section my doctor advised me to wait a year before getting pregnant again. I waited a year, then tried again and got pregnant on the first cycle. I was also still breastfeeding until I was about 4 months pregnant. Had a very straightforward, uneventful pregnancy and a lovely VBAC.

I can't imagine that the difference between 10 months and 12 months is going to be significant.

That’s reassuring to hear! Did the weaning happen naturally? I did read that your breast milk can change taste at 4/5 months pregnant due to hormones.

We also conceived on the first cycle this time round. It took a long time the first time so I thought we should start trying early 😖

I had to cut down to breastfeeding twice a day to kickstart my cycle again. Then not long after I got pregnant I cut down to once a day because my son was getting really hyper when he breastfed so we swapped the evening feed for a bottle. Then when I was about 4 months pregnant I went away for the weekend and didn't try to pump, and when I came back my milk was gone. I think it was my body's way of telling me it was time to stop. My son didn't seem bothered at all about stopping, he was ready.

I’ve had 4 sections. The second one was just 15 months after my first. It all went very smoothly.

I fell pregnant 9 months after EMCS. Currently 24 weeks and everything has been ok and aiming to try a VBAC. Scar site a little bit tender but nothing major.

Please make a note of all your symptoms and get well looked after. I had an emergency section, a repair 15 months later, a baby 13 months after that and another baby 22 months after that. My scar nearly ruptured with baby number three and we would have been in serious trouble if I hadn't pushed him out in less than ten minutes. Be careful. I was also told not to have any more.

My third child was 10 months old when I got pregnant with my fourth. This was also my 4th section. I had a few complications with my third but my fourth was actually very straightforward. I got sterilised during it though.
