Dates not adding up:(

I had an early pregnancy scan today due to recurrent miscarriages and a second trimester loss last year. Me and my partner last done the deed on the 26/08/2024. I had a positive test on 30/09/2024. I should be roughly 7/8 weeks but today the sonography could only see a pregnancy sac and yolk sac- No fetal pole or heartbeat. She said my dates must be wrong and to go back in 10 days time for another scan but I know that I’m further on than what the scan is showing. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi op, I'm sorry you're so worried. My friend had a similar experience. She had some bleeding at about 7 weeks pregnant so had a scan, to find the same thing. Only yolk sack. They told her to go back in 2 weeks which when you're waiting is just agonising. She went back and they couldn't believe the growth. The dates all added up and were where they should be, baby was fine. This really surprised me as I couldn't understand why they couldn't see anything before! He's almost 1 now.
Try not to panic and think the worst. I know it's so so hard. But look after yourself during this time of waiting and keep busy and distracted. Sending lots of love

If you really haven’t DTD at all after 26th Aug until 23rd Sept?

Then it’s likely a missed miscarriage. I had this in my first pregnancy- we had not dtd at all after mid feb, I got a positive at the end of feb. Went for a scan early April when I should have been 9 weeks and it only measured 6+2 with no heartbeat. I knew immediately it was bad news due to not dtd at all. There was no chance of being wrong in our case.

If however you DTD at all between 1st sept-23rd sept then you do have a chance of it being earlier than you think.

Im sorry if it is bad news in this case. I’m now on my third pregnancy, with one DS, and I still remember that first pregnancy and how sad and down I was about it like it was weeks ago rather than 2.5yrs ago.

What was the date of your last period?

If you only had sex on 26th August but didn't get a positive test until 30th September, your dates don't make sense at all.

You'd be nearly 9 weeks if you got pregnant from the sex in August.

Didn't you have sex in September? Roughly two weeks before 30th?

Something doesn't make sense.

I'm so sorry about your miscarriages. It's awful when you're in early pregnancy and scans don't show what you're expecting.

I hope you get some clarity at your next scan.
