5 days late but test says negative.

Hi, wondering if anyone could shed some light for me.

I am currently 5 days late on my period. I am trying to conceive (actively off the pill for 7 months, periods returned for 3) and for the past 4 weeks, my boobs have been sore (when anything is pressed to them or generally walking), nipples are erect and large the whole time. I’ve been feeling nauseous for 2 weeks and can’t stop craving toast/beige food (I usually eat pretty healthy). Nausea and tiredness will hit me and I literally need to lay down when it does.

Last Monday (10 days ago) I had some light bleeding when I wiped but only lasted 1 day. My period was then meant to come 5 days later and it didn’t. I tested on the day using clear blue (heard they aren’t always accurate) and a Tesco own, both negative. That was Sunday. I tested again on Tuesday and still negative.

I do not want to test again and get the same disappointing negative but with all of this combined- I’m thinking there’s a chance I’m pregnant. I feel pregnant (crazy as that sounds I know). Anyone been through similar?

If you are genuinely 5 days late due to pregnancy you’d have a very obvious positive test by now x

Hi OP, as the previous poster has said, I think it's very unlikely to be 5 days late and test negative. Do you track ovulation? Perhaps you ovulated later, then that would push your period later?
Maybe it was ovulation spotting you had 10 days ago or you're just experiencing an 'irregular' cycle or even an anovulatory cycle, which would coincide with spotting between periods.
I hope you get some answers. Good luck 💜

You would definitely have an obvious positive by now x

I was over a week late before I got a BFP. I ovulated late in that cycle because I was very unwell with flu. It helps to track ovulation so you know when is best to test.

What age range are you in? Have you always been regular. It isn't unusual for periods to be late a coupon time during our lifetime.

When I started TTC I was a week late and had all sorts of symptoms and weird twinges that I had never felt before. I 100% felt pregnant but the tests were stark white. My period eventually arrived a week late (which had never happened before). Definitely think my body was playing tricks on me because I wanted it so bad.

When I actually was pregnant (after IVF) there were less symptoms and an obvious line

Hi OP, it could be that you have just ovulated very late this month.
If genuinely 5 days late then you would have a BFP by now but, if ovulation was late, then you may be much earlier which would explain the negative

Otherwise, it could just be a delayed or missed period which is non pregnancy related. It does happen unfortunately and you rarely get an explanation for it.

Most people don't 'feel' pregnant till later on as the symptoms are caused by hcg which is what the tests look for. If your hcg levels were high enough to cause symptoms, they'd definitely be high enough to show on a test.
